farging palm beach county has another retarded looking ballot where the old jews surely farged it up. chances are these yentes wont vote for a schvata, but you never know, there might be enough bubbies and zaidas with goys for a son or daughter in a law...
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

ABC and NBC has 175-76

CNN has 174-64

Obama gets Ohio.  This one's over....

Basically. Once they call Florida and the polls close in California, Obama will get it and the rioting in the streets of North Philly will commence.

Shore's point about a flat tax is the point of his post, I think.  It's hilarious that JTP is news, and even funnier that somehow the Dems are rallying around this cartoon character of a person as what's wrong with the righties.  Well, rallying around him and the KKK as what's wrong with the righties.

Joe the plumber was nothing more then a clumbsy tactic and its crap like that, that has caused the fall of the GOP. We're not buying anymore. If you want to be elected again give us some honest freaking intelligent discussion and send JTP back under the rock he came from.

Which brings us to my next point. Scrap the farging IRS and the tax code and start over from scratch. I'm not an economist, but there has to be a better way of collecting taxes than this.

All other words aside, this is where we SHOULD be working our taxation system.  Maybe in 12.  We can dream.

Totally should be reworking the Tax code. I like the flat tax idea but I think it would be hard to work. Everyone paying 20% means that the people that can't afford it get their taxes raised.

So, in other news, it looks like Congress has a +4 change so far tonight.

And, in the Missouri Governor's race, it was called before the polls even closed.  The first thing I saw at 6:30 PM tonight (polls closed at 7) was the Dem beat the Pub (I voted for the Dem) was pronounced the winner with 0% of the vote in.  Not sure how the hell that happens....

Flat tax favors the wealthy which is pretty easy to prove out, but whatever. A tiered tax system is a more acceptable idea as long as it is consistent and not too heavily weighted in one direction. (Obama's plan IS too heavily weighted in one direction, by the way, and proposing a slightly more balanced plan would be MUCH more beneficial to him and the country in my opinion.)

Anyway, since this is looking like a blowout, I'm going to say this. If Obama takes this as a 'mandate' from the populace to move Left I will be horribly disappointed in his judgment.

The Democratic party has the opportunity to truly be a populace party right now. All they have to do is resist the urge to go insanely Left in spite of the fact that there will be very few obstacles. Who knows if that is even possible. Clinton was almost universally adored for a while and even he managed to farg it up. But a few months ago I said that Obama had something in him that I thought was important for our next president and that something is the potential for greatness. He inspires people. He is intelligent. He knows that people want someone with common sense and the ability to compromise. Whether he can follow through on that is anyone's guess, but if he can we will all be better off.

We spoke of race earlier, and how racism could play a part in the result.  I agree, and apparently so does Reuters

QuoteIn churches and bars, on the street and in private homes, African Americans celebrated on Tuesday in anticipation of a longed-for victory by Democrat Barack Obama in the U.S. presidential race.

Although they make up only about 13 percent of the U.S. population, more than 90 percent of black Americans are expected to vote for Obama, who would be the first black president in U.S. history.

Racism plays both ways.  And I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I seriously doubt that blacks have historically voted 90% to the Dems in previous elections.

None of this means anything, except that I guess it's not just MA trailer trash or rich, old white dudes that are racist.

The idea that racism is a one way street is laughable. But black folks vote pretty strictly Democratic. Maybe not 90%, but I would guess it's (relatively) close.

I predict, and I'm really going out on a limb here, that the next four years will be decidedly centrist.  If Obama does that, and if the terrorists or other crazy ass group don't bring terror or a war to our shores, he will be re-elected in 12.  It's then, coupled with a Dem Congress and House (because things went so well), that the government will start succumbing to the urge to go insanely left.

Give people enough power and popularity, and they will take too much power.  See: Republicans.
