gwen ifil is beyond reproach...as unbiased as they come....and its not like the mccain people havent known who was moderating for quite some time now...if there are any complaints and i havent heard any other than from the disgusting WND site that you got this from then its just a way to have a built in excuse if palin is as bad as we all expect her to be

How could you possibly say that she is not biased?  Would you prefer if I just linked to the amazon.com page of the book she's written?

ice grillin you

tim russert was a flaming liberal and also maybe the fairest person ever in news...just because you hold a particular affiliation with someone or something doesnt mean you cant fairly moderate a debate

and again mccain has known she would be doing this for some time...he has no problem with it and thats all you need to know about gwen ifil
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

McCain can use it to continue to blame the media. They've been playing that card of late.

WORD..I'm fargin 60 and Russert was far and away the fairest , most professional news reporter or interviewer I've ever seen.   David Brinkley was 2nd

But fair people from the big 3 (CBS, NBC and ABC) are very few and far between since the 1994 uprising.

McCain and his people were unaware of her book.

All the responses here toward this subject are exactly what I expected when I read about her book. No one wouldn't have even responded at all if FF hadn't brought it up a second time.

McCain: 'Gwen Ifill is a professional'

Quote

Fox's Carl Cameron asked John McCain today if he thought that PBS journalist Gwen Ifill should recuse herself from moderating Thursday's VP debate in St. Louis.

"I think that Gwen Ifill is a professional, and I think she will do a totally objective job because she is a highly-respected professional," McCain said.

"Does this help that if she has written a book that's favorable to Sen. Obama?" McCain asked. "Probably not."

There's been an uproar today over Ifill's forthcoming book, "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama."  As I mentioned earlier, it's been known that the book's been in the works for a while, but has just gained traction now, primarily through conservative websites, cable news, and talk radio.

On the air today, Rush Limbaugh said Ifill was " totally in the tank for Obama."

"This is a conflict of interest," Limbaugh said. "She has a financial stake in Obama winning the race."

Next, Limbaugh played a clip from McCain being asked on another radio show whether he thinks Ifill should be moderator.

"I don't make that judgment," McCain said. "I am confident that Gwen Ifill, or whoever is the moderator, would be fair."

McCain said he "had not heard about a new book or anything else," but added that Ifill would be "scrupulously fair."

The title of the book indicates that it might not be a book that supports anything one way or the other.

"The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama."

It might just be a study of race and the effect Obama has had on it. You won't know until someone actually reads the book.

Just another knee jerk freak out. We should be used to this by now...

Book from Gwen Ifill as listed on Amazon.com: "In THE BREAKTHROUGH, veteran journalist Gwen Ifill surveys the American political landscape, shedding new light on the impact of Barack Obama 's stunning presidential campaign and introducing the emerging young African American politicians forging a bold new path to political power."

I think both sides would have to agree that Mr. Obama has had some impact on the political system at this point. Her book seems to be about a certain aspect of that impact.

By all means though... carry on about nothing...

I heard this today..The "Rushinator" was mocking McCain in that he believes dems will spin the bailout on Repubs. sp McCain better act.  He believes if McCain was a serious reformer he would take the names (from either party) of the guilty and get them off the committees that over see the banks.
