So Bush went to Israel and told the Israelis that the Deomcrats are appeasing terrorists because they have suggested sitting down with Iranians. Joe Biden catches wind of it and announces that it is "bullshtein" and proceeds to list the high-ranking officials in the Bush administration that have themselves suggested that the US sit down with the Iranians.

Politics is all lies.

QuoteHow can you say "vote for me, I'm Christian, but that won't have any impact on my policy decisions"?

Very easily. Did Bush ever dare to mutter this? I doubt it.

PoopyfaceMcGee

If Obama would work in a "Where da white women at?" into one of is speeches, I'd vote for him.

Cerevant

Bush didn't have to - Bush very clearly indicated when his policy decisions were driven by his faith.

I only call Obama on this because it seems contrary to his previous stance on separation.  I believe that it is a conflict for him to give his faith as a reason to vote for him, yet claim his faith will not affect his policy decisions.

The logic is seriously flawed, so I don't like it.  Elections have very little to do with logic however.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

I would argue that one's moral compass shouldn't be dictated to them by a 2000 year old book but rather acquired from family and personal experience. Of course, I like to make sense more often than not which clearly is not everyone's priority.

Parts of the 1625 year old book are timeless...like the 10 commandments

rjs246

The major parts of the 10 commandments are just common sense and were common sense before they were written. Killing someone is bad?! Mouth humping my friend's girl without his permission is bad?!?! It isn't rocket science.

Things like 'thou shalt not take the lord's name in vein' or whatever is just a bunch of superstitious mumbo jumbo.

2 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery;
3 Do not have any other gods before me.

4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,

6 but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments.

I worship lots of false idols. Their names are Beer, Bacon, the ACLU, Jenna Haze, Tequila, Football, Hockey, Briana Banks' Anus, the Coen Brothers, Cormac McCarthy and myself. There are porbably more but I just started thinking about Briana Banks' anus and got distracted.

Well, I'm an atheist and I don't. It's a matter of honesty. Something we sorely need in the white house. I believe there are some good moral tenants in chirstianity (then again there are some stupid ones). While I don't think Obama is disengenuous I of course can see how he uses this as a way to project his image to gather votes. There's a difference between doing this and being a total asswipe by trying to cram religion down people's throats once assuming power. Obama is much smarter than that. He's not a fundamentalist. We shouldn't live in a theocracy. What would you have him do - Not advertise that he's a christian? Because another thing to consider is the Right Wing filth out there that try to portray him as some sort of closet muslim.

TEQUILA!

You just gave me plans for my Thursday night.
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.
