Obama is hardly extreme.

Huckabee isn't, either.  Heck, he takes "liberal" positions on quite a few issues.  There are very few extremes in American politics on either end, and none with a true chance of victory in a presidential election.

Perhaps the last true "extreme" with a lot of power in American politics was Huey Long on the left and Joseph McCarthy (who was more of an attention whore than a true political extreme, but belongs here because of the effects of his actions).

I'm not sure how anyone can say that Huckabee isn't extreme...

- His immigration stance is as extreme as it gets (though there is a growing conservative trend to embrace the ludicrous and un-American 'kick them all out and build a wall between us and them' philosophy).
- He is religious to an extreme. (From his web site) "My faith is my life - it defines me. My faith doesn't influence my decisions, it drives them." So much for the separation of Church and State.
- He opposes stem cell research and thinks Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
- He opposes gay marriage.

He defines everything that terrifies me in a potential leader of the country. I don't have a problem with religious people. I have a VERY big problem with people ruling a country based on their arbitrary religious beliefs. That is farging terrifying.

I don't pay attention close enough to know what McCain has been up to. I merely based my opinion on how he sounded in recent debates. He went against his party on water boarding because of his own POW experiance in Vietnam and made a lot of sense on other issues even if I didn't agree. He also didn't seem to be dripping with grease like Rudy and Romney. Huckabee actually comes acrss pretty well himself.

I think on the dem side Obama seemed to be the best debater but I liked Biden for some reason in that field.

i will base my decision on which Saturday Night Live cast member does the funniest impression of one of the candidates.  which means my opinions will not be shaped until the writer's strike is over.

you can go on forever

he is not just against gay marriage but also gay adoptions

he compares having pro choice legislation to having pro slavery legislation

wanted to quarantine all aids patients

his ignorance on current events and the world today is astounding

but shtein erase all that stuff...im not voting for someone who doesnt believe in evolution

I stand by my statement.  Huckabee isn't extreme, especially compared to political systems around the world.

Heck, Huckabee isn't even as conservative as Bush.

And before Dio chimes in with his tired rhetoric, Huckabee is the last among the current candidates that would get my vote.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It scares the living shtein out of me to think of that guy running this country.

And IGY hit the points home even harder.

Guy frightens me to no end.

Huckabee is a ridiculously extreme social conservative but is fiscally very moderate.

Basically, I hate his stance on everything but the abolishment of the IRS.

As tired as I am with McCain, I still like him better than most of the Republicans.  Overall, it's a quite uninspiring lot.

I agree about Giuliani and Romney.  They're slimy, even by political standards.

For some reason, Huckabee strikes me as basically a Bush-lite, and a  former governor of Arkansas to boot.  Twenty years of that stuff is enough for me.  I think I'd even vote for Hillary before him.

If I had to handicap the race (solely for my vote), I'd go:

1.  Obama
2.  Biden (at least before he dropped out)
3.  McCain
4. Edwards (Lord help me)
5-7.  Giuliani/Romney/Clinton (all bunched up here - don't care for any of them)
8.  Huckabee

PoopyfaceMcGee

I disagree with many of his ideas on how to get there, but I like what Obama has to say about America better than any of the other losers.  He's articulate, intelligent, and inspirational.  Basically, he's better than the idiots of this country deserve and thus will probably be defeated in the primaries by a less-inspiring, empty-rhetoricked douche like Hillary or even Edwards.

Your namby-pampby cliche-ridden deity-worhipper-masquerading-as-centrist rhetoric is refreshing by contrast?

McCarthy was a Nazi wrapped in the American flag..that you think of him as anything less than extremes says enough about where you're coming from..
