When Trump's back in office rewatch Maher's 4 years of the Biden Presidency and see he was right. I'm resigned to the fact my worse nightmare is coming in 2025. The real problem is it won't end after his second term. You don't have to like him, watch him or appreciate him as an entertainer. He's spot on about the current state of the left and Trump. The way we look at Trumpers as nuts is the way they look at the current state of the left. Maher's become their rationale go to guy. There's really nobody on the right who I can compare him too because anyone that mutters a single negative word about Trump is black balled by the right. But that they're viewing him - an extremely critical voice of the right and Trump - as somewhat normal tells you he's more what they're used too as a classic liberal. The right is great at manufacturing narratives against the left. Normally only the loony foxnews viewers eat that up, now independents are taking notice.

Do you know how many people I met that voted for Trump because they thought Hilary was more crooked? A ton. And I'm not saying she wasn't crooked but she's a small portion of Trump. Therein lies the issue: Biden's doing horrible with independent voters. The economy (by Trump supporters metrics) is doing better under Biden. Yea inflation was inevitable no matter who won but the narrative is the countries doing horrible right now. If Trump was in office the messaging would be different. Trump irresponsibly cuts $1.5 trillion for billionaires is applauded by the right and everyone's raving about his artificially inflated economy, Biden passes infrastructure for roughly the same amount (which is actually paid for) and gets criticized. His poll numbers are still shtein.

Biden is doing terrible because the mass media machine craves turmoil to succeed.  Biden's presidency has been a relative return to decency and normalcy, but when was the last time you saw a mass media network highlight those successes?

What they're really, actually pissed off about is that people are still getting sick by the millions each week and dying by the thousands and, because their psyche can't handle the horror of processing that mass death and suffering, they're blaming the problems it's causing on Biden/the government/etc, even though there's very little policy that's causing those problems. Supply chain shortages, inflation, store hours shorter, hospitals overfilled, etc...all these "minor inconveniences" are being caused by workers who are either too sick to work, or who are refusing to go back to jobs putting themselves in harms way in the service of others without much better pay for doing so. And nobody wants to acknowledge that is the problem because nobody wants to deal with the complicated public health policies needed to address it and fix it, because they're sick of "restrictions" and etc...meanwhile there haven't actually been any real restrictions in most areas of the nation since last summer, masks and vaccine passports are basically all that's left, and people would rather take the easy way out and "blame the libs" and whine about "lockdowns" that don't actually exist. Meanwhile the masks and vaccine passports sans a mandate don't do enough to slow down the latest variant so they don't solve the problem either and...here we are.

But I guess Biden and "The Dems" need to get out there and just simply "be more moderate" (??), maybe by yucking it up with fraud Adams and the NYPD and funding police even harder (oops already did that) or caving to Joe Manchin and separating physical infrastructure from BBB and severely lowering the cost (whoops did that too), or by basically trying to ignore the pandemic is going on at all when it comes to policy (yyyyep...did that/doing that as we speak)....sooo like, be more moderate I guess? It seems to working for Biden's poll numbers so far!

(Lost in this of course is that a big part of why Biden's poll numbers are tanked is specifically because the young and the left are ALSO disapproving of him right now. Bringing those people back into the fold gets you back into the high 40s again but shhh...being more Republican will certainly work THIS time)

I agree wholeheartedly to your first part. Your second part is off, Trumps still banned from every major social media platform and any time I hear his name brought up its in a negative light. I agree he's great for mass media but most networks have a bit of integrity.
