Remember when repubs read dr seuss to try and block obamacare?

That was stomping feet and sticking fingers in ears

I believe that was part of a filibuster, a legitimate part of due process. Sitting down and pouting until you get your way is not.

There actually is some actual discussion going on over the matter, between reps who actually do something more than sit on their ass.

forget the fact that the republicans have since day one obstructed Obama on literally everything hes tried to do and are currently refusing to hold a vote on a friggin supremem court nominee here is the textbook definition of filibuster

an action such as a prolonged speech that obstructs progress in a legislative assembly while not technically contravening the required procedures.

so a prolonged speech that includes reading doctor suess to protest a law is part of the process...but a sit in to protest a refusal to even vote on a law is being a baby

Yes. By the rules of procedure. Filibustering has gone on forever, and it's an accepted (but sometimes reviled) part of the system. And it's been done by both parties. But parking your butt on the House floor isn't productive, other than just getting your mug out in front of the media to show that you "care."

But like I said, others - on both sides of the aisle - are actively working on the issue. As they should. And it ain't these folks taking up space on the House floor.

It's something that needs to be addressed bc the right side wouldn't even entertain any gun control.

This should've been addressed after sandy hook though

QuoteDemocrats are headed to the floor of the House and will end their sit-in protest over gun control, a senior leadership aide tells CNN.
"We are going to the floor to end this now," the aide said.

just to be clear you are honestly saying reading doctor suess because you don't like a proposed bill is fine but a sit in to spur action and bring attention to an amendment is acting like a baby and just trying to get on tv?

Nothing is going to change gun-wise until family members of these bloodsuckers start dying as a result of them.

I hope it doesn't come to that but it's not just radical jihadists who are pissed off.  This shtein is gonna get ugly, kids.  I'm genuinely surprised it hasn't already.

shoulda pulled this stunt a week before the election

its pretty simple, folks. if you vote republican, you vote for mass shootings. if you vote democrat, you vote for some kind of decent gun reform.

debate every other issue all you want....if you a pro mass death go ahead and vote for toomey or whatever shteinbag republican is repping your district. then when the next mass shooting happens, look in the mirror. you did it.

Just to be clear, you obviously have no idea what a filibuster is nor how it works.

I know exactly what it is...its just laughable to me that a sit in on gun violence is to get on tv and acting like a baby...but ted cruz reading doctor suess for 21 hrs to complain about a law is "following the rules"

thank god people during the civil rights movement didnt frown upon sit ins as much as you do

I don't think a filibuster would work against fire hoses and police dogs.

The man. The myth. The legend.
