You really are struggling with reading comprehension aren't you?

I've said over and over and over and over that we are destroying the planet. This is not mutually exclusive from the factually correct statement that human life has never been as safe, healthy, equitable, science driven or prosperous as it is right now.

Again... I understand what you're saying completely.  I disagree with it, that's all. 

To wit:

7 billion people live on the planet and maybe 500 million of them live in the sort of world you're talking about.  The rest scratch and scrimp just for basic survival.  They're not safe living in poverty.  They're often victimized by predators among them or lording over them financially.  They're not "healthy" because health care & nutrition is either awful, expensive or unavailable.  They're still bound by hideously repressive superstitions (Muslims, Christians, Hindus, you name it...).  As for prosperity, you realize most of the planet's population lives hand to mouth or paycheck to paycheck, right?

Things are not great.  They're farging terrible for many, many people, and shockingly enough, many here in the richest country on the planet.  It may not seem that way to you because of where you live and what you do and your pampered middle class background, but in my position I get to see both sides of it.  I see grotesque wealth and abject broke ass poverty living within a mile of each other.   The disparity is soul crushing.

For the entirety of human existence, abject poverty, warring factions, genocide and superstition have been the norm. Not just the 55/45 norm but the 98/2 norm.

You're bemoaning injustice and inequality in the world. Good. We are hardly a perfect species and our existence is far from a utopia. But a world where less than half the world's population lives below the poverty line is a farging astonishing accomplishment after 1000s of years of nearly EVERYONE living hand to mouth and fearing for their lives.

Your perspective seems to be that we've recently shown our true colors and deserve extermination, when the opposite is true. Humanity has only recently dragged itself out of the muck. It's only partially out, but it is unquestionably moving in the right direction and only a curmudgeonly old mule would argue otherwise given the full breadth of information available to them.

Let me ask you this. Why bother being a liberal? You aren't interested in the long term trends, obviously. You aren't interested in research or facts. Just what you see with your own eyes. You have already pronounced your belief that we have farged ourselves. Why not be a self-serving, every-man-for-himself libertarian? fargit, man, survival of the fittest. Yeehaw!

Edit: I'm not going to get into your bullshtein about my middle class lifestyle or where I live. The level of inequality in Richmond farging virginia is through the roof and I'm not some sheltered, entitled twerp who doesn't know what he's seeing when it's right in front of his eyes. I choose to believe that there is hope and I work towards making that hope a reality instead of whining like an old cranky sonofabitch about how humanity deserves to be wiped out. I ran that game for years, and it's depressing as farg. Go to church with that apocalyptic shtein.
