If it's Trump v. Clinton....

and Bloomberg says, "farg it, I'll run as an independent."

I can't tell you how many of my friends and family despise Clinton.  If Bernie can't upset her for the nomination, many of them will quit for this cylce and not vote.  I think the mindset is, "the republican offering is so horrible he could never be elected and Hillary is going to march in without my vote, and I'm bitter over Bernie losing, so I'll stay home thanks."

If however Bloomberg is an option who isn't Hillary and also isn't a Republican nightmare....he will get votes that Hillary should by rights have had.

Similarly, two thirds of Republicans would go for Bloomberg over Trump or Cruz.

I see a way for Bloomberg to capitalize and grab moderate votes by the millions.  Tell me where I'm mistaken...

I hear that a lot.  There's legitimate venom out there for Hillary.  I don't share it, though.  I think she'd be a fantastic chief executive and she's far more qualified than anyone else running.  It's irrelevant, though.   If a Republican gets elected and they hold onto the House & Senate, this country is genuinely farged.

people talk a big game about not voting for hillary....some will, most will bite the bullet because the other option will a racist cartoon character

over half of pubs despise trump, the establishment hates him. there will be a 3rd party candidate to steal trump votes away, but more than that, too many pubs will sit out and give the dems an easy victory.

basically, trump is hated more in his party than hillary is in hers.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

People I work with are super republican and about 40% have said they either would vote for HRC or not vote.

MDS

if you consider PA to be blue (which it will be and always is), hillary needs 33 to get to 270

so basically florida and a smaller state like nevada or colorado. thats it. this shtein is over.

keep in mind if many pubs sit out, that gives the good guys a great chance to take back the senate and win over many gubernatorial races

There are a few scenarios where the Dems don't need Florida, Ohio, OR Virginia to take the presidency.....

But I don't buy the low turnout for Trump. The turnout at the primaries has been really high. I'm starting to get a little worried he might be able to win.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Turnout is because he has such a vociferous following & such a large chunk of people who hate him and are making sure they vote to stop him IMO.  My only concern is that young voters dislike HRC so even if you have 15% of pubs who don't vote because it's Trump, you're going to get a chunk of <35 y.o. voters who don't turn out for HRC either.

The opposite of 1992. Rather than Perot taking votes from Bush, you have Bloomberg taking votes from Hillary and Trump wins.  Then, the apocalypse.
I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight.
I once believed in causes too,
I had my pointless point of view,
And life went on no matter who was wrong or right.

Eagles_Legendz

I'd be very surprised if Bloomberg runs so long as HRC is likely nominee.

Diomedes

That's what I'm reading.  That he would only attempt the swoop-in if it's Bernie.

Excellent point.  My son is 19 and plays in a men's soccer league.  Most of his teammates are his age or mid 20's.  Hawaii is huge, I mean off the charts democrate state.  Has been since statehood.  Shocked as they had a game the other night after Trump won Nevada and someone brought up HRC.  Everyone to a T said they would not vote for her.  No real valid arguments, just didn't find her engaging or believable.  All agreed trump is a clown but the whack job isn't scripted and tells it like it is.  One of them had me in stitches when he said "I'd vote for Larry David over Sanders".

I'm concerned as we don't have any big local elections coming up in November so we may have a really low voter turnout.

you do hear that, but no polling data backs that up. she has around a 50% negative, but only a small percentage of that is dem voters.

like i said before, the slumlord is hated much much much more by the gop than hilldog is by the dems. its not even close.
