My copy has an imprint stamp of the state seal. You wouldn't see it if it were scanned. Its not ink, it just indents the paper.

You can absolutely see an embossing on a scan. Scanning is done by light...embossing casts a shadow which a scanner picks up very very prominently.

By the way, this birth certificate thing is a STUPID argument in both directions that could have been ended a while back by either the state of hawaii or obama himself. It's no different than opening your tax returns up to the public.

Which brings up the question, why wasn't it?

So it doesn't concern you whatsoever that the Republican ticket has a guy who sincerely is going senile...and his backup plan is a complete moron?

I am actually more concerned about Obama's amnesty plan on making 12M illegal aliens citizens for breaking US laws for most of their lives instead of the people stuck in their home countries who've been rejected time and time again for doing things the "legal" way.

But sure...let's just keep making stupid partisan issues up and cherrypick stories from liberal blogs.

This issue is not considered very important to most of the poster here. They would rather have cheap lawn care. Not me. I say take the money being spent on the war and protect our own borders while providing funds to deport illegals.

Why not just make it easier to become a citizen rather than spending billions on expelling people from our country and intimidating our (benign) neighbors by 'beefing up border security'?

Like the big bad Canadians and Mexicans are going to invade and impregnate all of our daughters and create an inferior race of lazy lumberjacks.

I agree with all of this.

Because they broke the law in coming here in the first place, and who cares about intimidating our neighbors? I just think it's time to take care of our own lands instead of having a giant military presence overseas all the time.

By the way, in case any of you demos forgot, it was your own Bill Clinton who brought up the issue of Obama's birth certificate with the Nevada lawsuit back in January.

Also, if you think the latino's that come to this country are lazy, your are seriously misinfomed. They are some of the hardest workers around.

One hand talks about universal healthcare...so that every US citizen has health coverage. Then the other hand talks about making everyone crafty enough to work under the table and avoid prosecution and deportation to join that group of citizens. And a mystical third hands wants to lower taxes for everyone, and take more from big business which will creat less jobs, not more.

All three of those things can not happen. You think this country is in trouble now? Add an INSTANT 12 million MORE people tapping the unemployment and welfare lines.

Isn't that something McCain is going to continue; the giants military presence overseas?

Anyways....whats the beef with Obama's birth certificate and why is it an issue?

@Wing:

This conversation again?

Those people are here already. Are you suggesting a massive mobilization to expel people from our country? You think the world doesn't like us now, just wait until we're shoving the brown folks who are making less than minimum wage into trucks and ushering them south.

I don't care about lowering taxes. It's nice to think about a few hundred more bucks in my wallet but I'll just spend that on beer anyway so who cares? Please take lowering taxes out of the conversation because if anything I think we should raise them.

Healthcare is a right that citizens should have in super-developed countries like ours, perhaps at the expense of, say, tax breaks or ludicrous overseas military adventures. Adding people to the population, people who are here and want to work is not a bad thing, it's a good thing. You act like I'm suggesting we round up only the dregs of Mexican society and give them citizenship. I'm talking about people who have been working here, corssing the border to make a better life for themselves, being given the opportunity to become citizens.

Labeling them criminals is arbitrary. There are 100s of things I've done that would make me a criminal in the eyes of a literalist. The intent of their presense here is to work and live and we shouldn't punish them needlessly for that.

Exactly, and tax em?  While what shorebird seems to be advocating is the current system of wasting money, and not geting tax money?

No. Not at all. Let them be as is. If they get caught, fine, if not, fine. But there is no need to take them in and then pay their way to becoming a citizen, where they, and their families will then cause more burden on our already devestated economy.

There are 100's if not 1000's of people trying to come here legally, and rightfully within the rules. They should not be punished because the government acted on attrition and just let 12 million people get food stamps.

Not wasting money, providing jobs. Especially jobs that current illegals have while working under the table and not paying taxes, that could be filled by legal Americans.
