but it makes it that much more sad that fox gets more viewers than msnbc and cnn combined...what is wrong with us?

Nothing is wrong with us, dude.  Fact is more people than not in this country are superstitious and scared to death of their own shadows and Fox News just tells them what they want to hear and shows them what they want to see.

They want to see fat, racist, loud-mouthed douchebags screaming about evil "liberals" because that's exactly what they do every day of their miserable pathetic lives.

Just like the taterskins fans we point at laugh at, those idiots should be mocked and ridiculed, not fretted over or worried about.

Yeah but Maryland and Delaware were more "North" then they were "South".

Ah, NO.  Fail.  Go back to tenth grade history and try again.

My point was that neither seceded from the Union despite having slavery widespread throughout both states.

As pointed out, Maryland was almost forced into that....but both states had soldiers on both sides, I consider them "North" since they never seceded. Whatever, they were "border states", lets just not split the country up that way please. I'd like to live in the blue areas.

Also, if I went back to 10th grade history, America wouldn't exist yet...neither would many civilizations.

For Christ sakes, just shut the farg up. You were wrong, admit it.

Edit-

QuoteDelaware

Both houses of Delaware's General Assembly rejected secession overwhelmingly, the House of Representatives unanimously.

[edit] Maryland

Main article: Maryland in the American Civil War

The Maryland Legislature rejected secession in 1861, Governor Hicks voted against it. As a result of the Union Army's heavy presence in the state and the suspension of habeas corpus by Abraham Lincoln, several Maryland state legislators, as well as the mayor and police chief of Baltimore, who supported the secession, were arrested and imprisoned by Union authorities. (Notice that with Virginia having seceded, Union troops had to go through Maryland to reach the national capital at Washington DC) Had Maryland also joined the Confederacy, Washington DC would have been totally surrounded. Maryland contributed troops to both the Union (60,000) and the Confederate (25,000) armies.

Maryland was not covered by the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. Maryland adopted a new state constitution in 1864, which prohibited slavery and thus emancipated all slaves in the state.

Both states voted against secession. By definition, despite having slavery, they were Union states, and thus, part of the "North". STFU.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Actually, Bush didn't get any cuts of significance through.  So, I guess McCain hates poor people.

Naturally, that is if you don't understand that fiscal responsibility helps everyone and that the cash-gobbling government assistance programs are broken beyond all belief.  But hey, I guess if you simply close corporate loopholes and get out of Iraq, everyone will be on easy street!

Obama's tax and regulation plan would be extremely bad right now for a struggling economy.  That said, even with a Democratic congress, I don't expect much of it to get passed.  As evidenced by the last two years, the Demos in congress are geldings and are clearly as bought and sold as their Republican counterparts.

Honestly, all the drama about the next President and the direction of the country is so overdone, when you realize just how little capability those assfaces have to actually do anything of value.

farg it, let's go eat some paste.

NO, they were not more' North' than they were 'South', which was proven to you, and you still argue.

They vote against secession because they literally had a gun pointed at thier head. If not for being so close to the Mason Dixon line, and D.C., they would have been part of the confederate army, like the Carolinas. The makup of the government and people were 'Southern', not Northern, no matter how their government voted. But you can go ahead and site a technicallity if it makes you feel better. I live here, and I can tell you that the majority are still that way even today.

Obama's tax plan would be extremely good for the struggling economy.  Less taxes on 95% of us means more consumer spending power, and that's what this farged up confidence game we call "the economy" is based on.

The rich and the corporations have had their run on of late.  They'll be fine under Obama.  Hell, they'd be fine under Chavez.

The distribution of wealth question has been answered incorrectly in this country for a long time.  Middle class people don't exist anymore; it is virtually impossible to keep a household on one income, and that's a crying shame, especially in the richest country ever.  Anything that can be done to restore a system which rewards responsible, reliable working citizens is good.  Anything that rewards corporations and rich people is not good.

Except for the liberal heavy cities, I too can vouch for this.  We've got plenty of Obama hating, dixie flag tattooed, ignorant pissfargs running around down here.
