Everyone with a brain knows that some level of citizen monitoring has been going on for years. It was a disgusting secret that no one wanted to talk about or admit. My main problem with the recent citizen-spying is the overt and brazen way in which the government has said "we're taking away the very notion of a right to privacy. We're spying on you and there isn't anything you can do about it, but don't worry, if you're not doing anything wrong you've got nothing to worry about."

Meanwhile, my dad, who is the most law abiding, straight laced, rah rah go USA old school republican on the planet was on the terrorist watch list and was getting harassed every time he tried to fly. This shtein just got scary because our government no longer fears its people. It is so comfortable with its own power that it can tell the entire population that it is spying on us and know without a doubt that we will all do nothing.

pretty much what i was saying...comparing joe mcarthy or some guy who started the cia to the president of the united states isnt quite the same

For a little twist the guy who helped start the CIA was someone who Bush Sr was familiar with when he ran the CIA... An interesting parallel I caught while reading that wiki article. Or not...

The continued accusation that Palin "won't take questions" is ludicrous.  She's been the nominee for 12 days, including the convention, and has been actively campaigning.  There is plenty of time before November, she can't and won't "hide" forever, and she's going on with Charlie Gibson this week.

Obama's been running a national campaign for slightly longer than 12 days.  Slow your roll on the comparisons with the MILF.

Rome

nothing says "hard-hitting" like being interviewed by the guy who used to host good morning america.

phillymic2000

It was a bold move by him, and he did do a good job. I was waiting for Oreily to start screaming shut up. the biggest item that worried me was when he pulled a kind of bushism when he was explaining his beilief in redistribution of wealth. If there is a man with a lot of money, and his neighbor is a waitress struggling  it would be neighborlism (or something of that effect) to share his money with his neighbor. Not exact quotes but it was something like that. I do not agree with his stance on that.

im not directly comparing im pointing out the irony in not talking at all to going against bill o...id like to see mccain or palin go up against a lunatic like oriley but there are none on the left....i guess olbermann would be it but hes not even close to oriley and they still wont go on with him
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

anyone see barry on oriley the other day...he did a fantastic job...pretty gutty thing to do going on there and a stark contrast to palin who for now wont take questions from anyone much less an attack dog like bill o

yea its like a debate, not an interview. he throws his opinions into the questions, makes them about himself, over-talks barry. barry went on to be seen by 7 mil repubs on thursday convention night. why not get a chance to speak to a bunch of people who arent going to vote for you.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

In all fairness, Oprah refused to have her on.

Ha!  No bias in this comment at all!  Olbermann and O'Reilly are kinfolk.

SunMo

Olberman is so bad that MSNBC won't let him anchor election stuff anymore
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

You know, the only reason that these 'bullshtein artists' have the ability to bullshtein us is because we're all stupid and apathetic enough to put up with it.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Nice job ignoring the context.

Yes, I have watched both.  It makes absolute sense to me that you would think Olbermann is relatively fair, considering your political beliefs, but someone on the right would justifiably disagree.

I have no idea.  Has he invited either of them?

Seabiscuit36

Palin lying day in day out about the Bridge to nowhere is hilarious.

Good talk by Obama in that clip ATV
