Sure it's a stupid attack ad, which will probably backfire.  But......

Calling it a pro-pedophile ad?  Really?

We have a stupid funhole of a congresswoman here in Lake County named Melissa Bean.  She's by definition a Democrat, but she's pretty farging right wing.  And dirty.
Last election, I got a campaign ad of a guy kicking his pregnant woman in the stomach, with the tagline, My Opponent wouldn't let even this woman get an abortion.  It was a fargING POSTCARD, no less.  I called her office that minute, and told whatever dumbfarg answered the phone that I'd vote for Satan over Melissa Bean.

That's truly offensive.  This ad barely qualifies as disgusting, just inane and stupid.  It will rally the bible-thumpers, though.
Anyone but Reid.

just taking a quick look ay mccains proposals there no possible way his tax cuts can be supported by his supposed cuts in spending...and to even get close he must have some ugly cuts out there that hes not mentioning

the fact is taxes need to go up if we wanna make up any ground on this deficit and his whole plan is based on tax cut after tax cut

Lower INCOME taxes.  Plenty of other taxes to make up for it.

You do understand that combat is ending in Iraq regardless, right?  Concerns about future military endeavors would be much more valid.

Ah, yes.  This is totally an issue worth mentioning, because Roe v. Wade doesn't have a 30+ year precedent.

Obeying which interpretation of the Constitution?

More affordable or "free" health care for everyone means shteintier health care for anyone that has it already.  Good stuff.  But don't worry, you can move to Canada where Cerevant "knows a guy."

you really are a bush schill..more than i even ever thought

funny you mention roe v wade having a 30 year precdedent then mention bushes sullying of the constitution....because before this admin widespread spying of our citizens had a never before precendent so sorry if some people arent comforted by a 30 year precedent

oh and mccains tax plan will send us into debt much defaster and deeper than obamas

Ever hear of Joe McCarthy?  The No Such Agency?
Come on, I hate Bush as much as the next guy, but the gov't has been spying on its people since at least WWII.

mcarthy was one man who went unchecked..but eventually he was brought down when unable to substantiate his claims...under bush it is the highest levels of our govt systematically spying on people without a care in the world...i would put watergate closer to bush than mcarthy but neither come close to the scope of our current admin

and for the record i have no doubt the govt has in one way or another spied on poeople in the past...but the brazenness with whihc the bush admin has shtein on the constitution in numerous different aspects is frightening

McCarthy wasn't one man unchecked, he had the full support of the government and the Supreme Court, or he wouldn't have been able to destroy all the people he did.

Sure the violations have become more brazen, but that's really only because we have the perfect enemy of the state, and people are still unnerved by 9-11.  But spying and illegal wiretapping etc. are not new, by any stretch.
Anyone but Reid.

the sickening thing about that ad is that they dont even reference a bill name number or date obama voted on it...no quotes from obama...nothing...just that he suppported sex ed for kindergardners with absolutely nothing to back it up...

it seems like this would be from a swiftboat type group...i dont know why i should be but im pretty surprised that mccain would stamp it

Taxes need to go up and be collected in a less wasteful manner.  Obama's plan is really a clusterfarg of multiple tax increases that will cripple American business and consumption.  Plus, his spending plan cuts nothing except the military and spends a lot more everywhere else.

I'm pretty sure I've been steady all along that if both sides are equally fiscally irresponsible or at least similar, I'll always side with the one who is more likely to tax less and spend less.

Chances of Balanced Budget:
Obama with Democratic Congress = 0%
McCain with Democratic Congress > 0%

Or, you could read the fine print that's displayed for about five seconds and actually be correct:
QuoteState Bill 99, Passed 3/6/03

I'm not saying I like the ad; I'm just saying you can't read.

There's definitely some parallels between Bush and McCarthy.

- Both use fears against an enemy that is not fully understood by the American people (McCarthy - communists; Bush - terrorists)
- Both used that fear to gain power for themselves within the government
- Both used unsubstantiated (and later proven false) claims to bolster their arguments (McCarthy - list of "known communists" in the government; Bush - WMDs)
- Both tried to skirt the Constitutional limits to "investigate," claiming it was in the interest of protecting "democracy"
- Both used relatively new modes of communication to help them get their message across (McCarthy - television, Bush - mass internet)

The parallels aren't perfect, but there are definitely some connections that can be made.

no doubt but what puts this admin way over the top is the use of entire govt agencies like the nsa and cia and filling the justice dept with all political appointees ect...to further their agendas

QuoteYou do understand that combat is ending in Iraq regardless, right?

I understand that the Right Wing wants people to believe this.

Move along, folks - It's just a coincidence that the Republicans are finally claiming they'll bring home the troops now that it's a couple months before election season. If and when McSame is elected I fully expect the draw-down to begin. You just need to pull that lever ONE more time for them. Trust them.

Rome

No amount of tax increases is ever going to chip away at a 10 trillion dollar debt.  Nothing, nada, zip.

This country is farged and we're all going to be going hat in hand to the arabs and chinese in less than a decade.  Book it.

Phanatic

I was reading a Wiki article the other day about the guy who started the CIA and well guess what. He also spied on citizens. Mainly hippies who he thought were in league with communists.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Jesus_Angleton

QuoteThese illegal surveillance activities resulted in the generation of 10,000 case files on American citizens and included such information collection methods as opening mail (Angleton is rumoured to have maintained that practice since the 1950s, when he brought to Dulles's attention how the American Federation of Labor had directed funds diverted to them by the CIA). The intelligence so gathered was said to have been reported directly to DCI Helms. Opening mail has since been made obsolete by x-ray technology.

So now ya know...
