Mike, what you're taught in school is supposed to be considered "fact".

Since when? My 8th grade English teacher used to tell our class that all men should be born with a block that allows them from having children until they can prove they're responsible.

If you are teaching an entire BELIEF in class, its supposed to be taught like a history lesson. Not like some moronic comment like that from your teacher. Teaching creationism would be like a section of the course like teaching about the Civil War. Not a comment, but a few weeks of "study" on it.

Not to mention, as IGY already said, separation of church and state....ever heard of it? Creationism has NO Part in public school systems.

I don't put it past Palin to do all she could do overturn Roe v. Wade. Sorry, she is too skeery like that. She could appoint those who WOULD work to overturn it.

And yes, SD, she said it herself:

QuoteRepublican vice-presidential candidate sarah palin wants creationism taught in science classes.

In a 2006 gubernatorial debate, the soon-to-be governor of Alaska said of evolution and creation education, "Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of education. Healthy debate is so important, and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both."

Saying 'teach both and let them debate about it' is different than the evangical nutjobs who think only Creationism should be taught. I have no problem with letting students chose which one they think is right.

youre insane...you want some fable taught in schools as fact?...not to mention theres a little something in the constitution about seperation of church and state...

How is it being taught as 'fact' if you're letting a student decide for themselves which one is correct?

Mike, what you're taught in school is supposed to be considered "fact".

You know you have been dissed when you are dissed about your investigative rigor by the National Enquirer:
Quote"The National Enquirer's coverage of a vicious war within Sarah Palin's extended family includes several newsworthy revelations, including the resulting incredible charge of an affair plus details of family strife when the Governor's daughter revealed her pregnancy. Following our John Edwards' exclusives, our political reporting has obviously proven to be more detail-oriented than the McCain campaign's vetting process. Despite the McCain camp's attempts to control press coverage they find unfavorable, The Enquirer will continue to pursue news on both sides of the political spectrum."

Your quoting the National Enquirer now? :-D :-D :-D :-D

What? Its only accurate and legitimate when its talking about a Democrat's illegal affairs/offspring?

NO! The National Enquirer is 99% sensationalism and has no place in actual journalism. You must think it's accurate talking about any Republican though. Thats plain to see.

Anything controversial about any Republican candidate will be posted here, credibility be damned. I'm just glad that this board in no way reflects the actual American public.

no youre bringing god into a public school...SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE 101...anyway whos god do you want to tell kids created everything...my god your god...allah...a cow...where does it stop...and what about me im an atheist you dont think id feel pretty uncomfortable or out of place having this god talk all around me...we dont live in saudi arabia this is the farging US

I was going to refute with something like this but I don't feel like arguing any longer. What's really funny is the insinuation is that Palin is an evangelical nutjob that only wants creationism taught which isn't the truth. All she is saying is let the students choose. And lol at 'seperation of church and state', wake me up when Bush stops saying he talks to jeebus.

From a scientist (and admittedly atheist) perspective, schools are supposed to be teaching science.  That is, examining available evidence and drawing a rational conclusion as to its meaning.  Evolution is supported by a vast amount of highly circumstantial evidence, as well as solid statistical data that given the estimated age of the Earth, the diversity found here occurring by random mutation and chance is plausible.  There is no, I repeat, no physical evidence whatsoever regarding Creationism.  Even Intelligent Design argues that, well it's in the Bible, therefore it must be true.  This is not science, it's acceptance upon faith.  If you want that, go to Catholic school, or take a religion history course.  It has no business being taught in Science class.

You've topped yourself on that one

Evolution is absolutley a theory. There is some evidence backing it up...but the evidence that is missing is actually evidence towards creationism. They are both theories until on is proven absolute.
