Also, for anyone who wants a statement from Obama on what his position is regarding the Iraq war, see if this op-ed printed in the NYTimes today satisfies you...don't worry, it's pretty short.

Yeah, thanks.  Had just found it on p. 268 of the thread.  This will be a good article to start a debate with my 8th graders.

You've got a pretty good group of kids if they know who the candidates are at all, much less if they care enough to fight about them.

My 8th graders are what prove that Bush has truly lost the nation.  I work in a fairly conservative part of the nation, and except for the children of the true neocons, my students absolutely hate Bush.

Now, the question as to whether their parents would actually vote for a Democrat, or a black man (my school is about 60% white, 30% hispanic, 10% black) is something different entirely.  I hope to keep their focus on the issues rather than the image, but that's already a losing battle in modern society.

QuoteThe judicial system has only proven to be so "fair" to people with money (Kennedy, O.J.) or persecuting black guys

I agree money plays too large a role in the justice system.

On the other hand, this has nothing to do with Kennedy and everything to do with convincing yourself to dislike someone because they're a liberal, which is closer to the actual topic.

ice grillin you

the press has been far harder on obama than mccain its not even close...people are confusing the amount of attention barry gets vs the amount of love he gets...hes a much bigger story than mccain so of course they are gonna follow his every move...but best believe his mistakes and "controversies" get pounced on with infintely more vigor than mccain

imagine if obama made the al queda/iran blunder (twice) and had to have someone whisper in his ear to correct him....imagine if obama messed up borders or thought certain countries still existed when they didnt...they would create a new network to cover this stuff...mccain does it and its a blurb...yet jesse jackson wants to cut off obamas penis and it gets three days of coverage

its not even close as to whos gotten the easier ride by the media

That's as direct a concession as anyone could hope for from a guy running for President.

I give him props, and I hope McCain finds something else to talk about now.

Ha, he'll be harping on this for weeks - "proof" that Obama isn't up to the job.
