still glad he won but can we all agree he is a pathetic piece of shtein worthless president

what inspired this invective?

Agreeing to bargain down the payout on stimulus checks, then not doing stimulus checks, abandoning the $15 minimum wage while having no problems opening up a new child-only camp for migrant children and bombing Syria.

wait, no stimulus checks?  what?

Today's WaPo article on passage of the plan:
QuoteBeyond the minimum-wage increase, the sprawling relief bill would provide $1,400 stimulus payments to tens of millions of American households; extend enhanced federal unemployment benefits through August; provide $350 billion in aid to states, cities, U.S. territories and tribal governments; and boost funding for vaccine distribution and coronavirus testing — among myriad other measures, such as nutritional assistance, housing aid and money for schools.

Oh well it's only $600 less and a month later than was promised before the election. I'm gonna spend mine on Biden flags.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

When the $600 stimulus was approved Biden said it should be $2000...the $1400 is filling in that gap.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

phattymatty

everyone here is right.  Biden is 1000x better than trump but was probably my last choice of out the Dem top 5 or 6.  I have paid very little attention to what he has done so far, as I fear is common with most people, but god damn does it feel good to not have to hear trump's voice every day. a small clip of his CPAC speech is the first I've heard of him since inauguration.

and now that he's turning his attention to tearing down the republican establishment there is some real opportunities for change but I don't have faith in Biden to be brave.  farg this working with republicans shtein, ram it all down their throats while he can because the republican machine will be working hard for the next two years to flip.

SD

That's my biggest Biden complaint ^^^^...stop trying to play nice with the Republicans. farg them they play dirty and give no fargs during the process. Biden's as centrist Dem as they're going to get so they don't want to work with him they're not going to work with anyone. Civility is gone and there's more Dems in the country than there are deplorables

Diomedes

Hoping for Democrats to play zero sum winner take all politics is like hoping for Republicans to exhibit common decency.

I'm frustrated by how weak and mealy mouthed most Democrats are.  Case in point:

$15 minimum wage.  CBA says consequences by 2025 of wage hike would be something like loss of 1.4 M jobs AND 900k people lifted out of poverty.  Republicans point to the job part and shout about job loss.  Easy argument for them to make...what do most Dems have to say in response:  wonky shtein about this study and that study.  What they need to say is that PEOPLE are more important than JOBS, that 900k PEOPLE will be lifted out of pvoerty.  They need to say:  jobs that keep people in poverty aren't worth having.  Good riddance to those jobs.

The trade off is clear:  fewer lower-than-subsistence paying jobs and more people lifted from poverty.  A double benefit.

AOC and a couple others get it but mostly, Dems have no voice.

I wonder if there's any correlation to the number of campaign contributions that come from people profiting off of poverty wages.
