Slow your roll yo, I'm married to a Puerto Rican and my kids are bilingual.

If we're talking politicians you'd like to have a drink with, other than Obama himself, I'd like to drink with Sherrod Brown.

I would have liked to have a beer with Bobby Kennedy in 1968.  Not the smug little prick he was before JFK died, however.

And man do you learn something new every day.  20 yrs here and I'm just finding out Dio has great taste in women.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Porter is fantastic.  I bet she's funny as farg.

Yeah I could geek out and have fun with Katie Porter too. Put Liz Warren there too, she rules.

Obama and Sherrod Brown were good picks too. I was against Sherrod running in 2020 but...starting to think he may be the guy in 2024 assuming Biden does one term.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I liked her more before she ran. Her campaign was a mess and she is terribly terribly awkward as a campaigner. Maybe that improves over the next 2-3 years but...she had a hard time connecting to people. Probably sexism and racism involved but she kind of ditched that hard nose questioner persona she had on the senate committees that made me like her so much in the first place. And the change resulted in this kind of awkward, insincere candidate that kind of gave off some Hillary vibes. I have a worry that she gets crushed if she's the candidate. But having a black person at the top of the ticket may be enough to get black turnout back up so, who knows.

But Biden's success does lend some credence to the "palatable old white guy appeals to Midwest whites" and Brown has those same qualities but is also progressive and liked by the Union folk. That was my thinking there. Plus he's up for election again in 2024 I think and Ohio is about complete in its turn to completely red. I don't know if even Brown can survive there. Might be the best move to jump to the national ticket.

It still annoys me that she or Booker didn't make it to SC, tbh. Would have been interesting to see what that does to the race and Clyburn's endorsement

Nice relief Bill.

$600.

Not even enough to cover a rent payment for people in need

2400 for our family will mean a couple months of tuition paid, and a couple grocery runs...I'll take it.
