There's a lady here, who keeps switching districts to try to actually win one, who has some brutally awful ads out. Her husband is rich and she's a full blown scare tactic Cheeto Dicker. Plus her voice is grating. So ads like hers and worse are what I fully expect.

This could go in this thread or the random musings but since it was inspired by all the "but muh free speech" vs "cancel culture" stuff I thought I'd put it here.

It's funny how CF kiiiind of avoided this because of how small it stayed. hungry hungry hippos and "dunking" and all that definitely existed back in the early 2000s but they were the class clowns of the MBs, whereas now that's the main way discourse happens and earnest discussions are much fewer and far between. This thread gets into the why of that pretty well i thought.

The Cheeto is threatening the tax-exempt status of of colleges because they're radical left indoctrination sites. That'll play well with the base and the Enlightened Centrist crowd who are super smart but somehow their only information about college life comes from South Park and the movie PCU.

its not about his base or converting anyone....its about preventing voters from leaving trump to vote for biden...people tend to get tunnel vision on trumps base like its all he has...his base isnt 60+ million voters...a shtein ton of people vote for him that arent the Q guy yelling at someone for wearing a mask

trump has said this same thing numerous times so its not new but he could be president for 100 years and i still will never understand how we go here....

and those people have not been swayed at all by this round of rhetoric about statues. if you think its going to over the next 3-4 months wear down just enough people from the burbs and the seniors who have abandoned him because of covid....ok. i disagree but its a valid hill.

but right now hes been ignoring a pandemic, yelling about opening schools and running blatantly racist ads and the result is alaska is now within the margin of error.

Yeah I didn't want to inundate the thread with more tweets but this exact topic was discussed a lot on twitter today by the election nerds and political pundits alike. Whatever Trump is trying to do right now about protests and such, isn't working, at all. I guess you can believe it might start working in October or something but, I'm guessing the death toll nearing 200,000 and a few dead kids and teachers will be the bigger story.

hillary was weirdly like +2 in june and +9 in july, but her negatives were always sky high. bidens arent anywhere close to that bad. thats the thing that keeps me in the confidence camp...trump only won by a handful of votes in 3 key states and time and time again polling tells you the people in those states like him a farg lot better than her.
