I generally [incorrectly] assume everybody is against Trump. I'm just wondering how most Jews, and especially holocaust survivors, feel about comparing our camps to the Nazi's

except no one has done that and Jews like most intelligent people understand nuance

most honest and decent people also know that the treatment of the people in the camps is much more important than what they are called

ps- they are concentration camps

Apparently Edna Friedberg is Jewish since "she is a Ph.D. candidate in modern Jewish history at the Jewish Theological Seminary", but I wonder how many actual Holocaust survivors agree with her assertion that their history is being exploited by analogizing the United Sates' current concentration camps to the ones used by Germany in WWII.

A friend likes to tease us because his wife is Jewish and my last name is Schwarzendruber; maybe that's why she thought this was such an important article for us to read

jews are like 70-30 liberal. the 30 is mostly older religious nuts who love israel more than their first born, which is where the trump love comes in. you have a handful that are selfish rich people voting for tax cuts.

but most jews are exactly like me. upwardly mobile city dwellers, cultured and educated. anti religious or very limited in their religion.

jews make up 2% of the population and mostly reside in NY and LA so they are a pretty worthless block all in all.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

are there Jews in the world who are republican sure...but the American Jewish voter knows trump is a white supremacist and will vote against him in droves...if it was any republican they would but especially trump who has many in his base that want Jews eliminated from the earth...very fine people who run over people with cars and shoot up synagogues

If I were Jewish, I think I'd be happy to see that when they start rounding people up and putting them in cages, people speak up.  The whole reason we remember the goddamned horror of the holocaust so actively is because human beings could do that shtein again if we don't stay on guard.

The fact that someone found one historian who complained a bit about what she considered too-free analogy is not something I care much about, nor does really anyone else, I'd bet.

It's not just some random Jewish historian; it's one who holds a prominent enough position at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (located in the National Mall) to issue statements on its behalf.

I was/am shocked that the Museum took such a stance considering that part of their mission statement is:

QuoteA living memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity. Federal support guarantees the Museum's permanent place on the National Mall, and its far-reaching educational programs and global impact are made possible by generous donors

I hate myself when I actually laugh at one of them.
