Sad to see him go, he's a great Senator.  I tend to believe him, rather than his accusers (some of whom are anonymous, which means for all we know, they were put forward by James O'Keefe), not least because the most offensive charges made came from a person who accepted his apology and admits that she does not rejoice at his fall.  His behavior toward her was hardly harassment, it was tasteless hamming for the camera and the crowd.  I regret there won't be an ethics investigation because it would have teased out the details of these allegations and we would have been better able to judge what actually happened. 

But given the climate, he had to go.  Had he persisted and fought, it would have been used by the Republicans as cover for Moore and Trump, and done great damage to the legitimate complaints of a great many actual victims, because both sides of the political power parties would be  seen as looking the other way.  By sacrificing Franken, the Democrats are able to maintain their moral high ground as the party which does not tolerate sexual harassment by anyone, even their own. 

Let the world see that when Democrats are found to behave badly, they are held to account by their own, while Republicans who transgress are defended and protected by theirs.

Women love playing the victim, especially when they feel guilty or shamed for doing something they did willingly, the bigger spectacle they make of the ordeal the more likely it is people will believe them, plus it justifies their actions in their minds. Most of the 'victims' are bored single women with nothing going on in their life, they fill that void with drama. Women love drama and attention, perfect recipe.

And yes I acknowledge this isn't the case with all the victims but I've seen this shtein first hand and work with it on a daily basis.
