And 2018/2020 would essentially be a bloodbath for Republicans.

We all pretty much thought the same thing after 8 years of a relatively strong Obama presidency, and even more so when Agent Orange managed to swipe the GOP nod after a Republican race that was essentially a Political Special Olympics.  But not only did he win, the GOP managed to take control of both the House and Senate. 

I will never have that kind of blind faith in the voting public again.  If anything, I'll just assume every election will end badly and be pleasantly surprised on the occasion that it doesn't.  USA! USA!
