Once I caught two massive ones outta the schuykill and some dude there paid me $10 to not throw them back. He took them home to eat them. Extra brave to do that for any fish outta the schuykill

Referring to Jeremiah 3:20 — the King James version of which reads, "Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD" — WBC undertook a P.R. campaign over the weekend, attacking the thrice-divorced (and legally remarried) Kim Davis in a string of Tweets and YouTube videos as an "oath breaker" and a "lawbreaker" — meaning, of course, God's law.

9/11 was the moment that America lost its goddamned mind. Maybe it all started with Korea or Viet Nam or Watergate but 9/11 pushed it over the top.

In 2001 a kinder gentler 'compassionate conservative' had just lost the election but won the presidency with some policy ideas that basically sounded like God + entitlements for old people + aw shucks down to earth nice-guy-ness. He was a bumpkin but his father had been a life-long statesman and he seemed like a nice guy who wouldn't get a blowie from an intern between meetings with the joint chiefs. The candidates from both parties were so similar that people actually talked openly about how it wouldn't much matter which candidate won. One guy was the robotic planet-lover VP of a popular president. A democrat who would probably expand entitlements. The other was the dumbass former owner of the Texas Rangers who traded away Sammy Sosa and would DEFINITELY expand entitlements. Basically two centrists vying for the whitehouse.

Fast forward to 2015: An overtly racist, casually misogynistic, blowhard, who got rich leveraging other people's money while risking nothing thanks to US bankruptcy law, a man with no qualifications and no experience, is leading in the GOP polls on a policy of name-calling, belittling women and building a wall to keep foreigners out. He mocked John McCain's POW experience and his poll numbers actually went up. I don't like McCain's politics but for farg's sake he was a POW for 5 years despite being offered an early release because he wouldn't break the code that dictated the order of prisoner release. McCain might be a lunatic but mocking his POW years is ignorant and disgusting.
