So Harry Reid told his staffers to keep their old health plans?  What was he thinking with that one.

Congress and their staffers should keep their old health plan. They work for a large employer that provided them insurance, the health care law was never meant for those people....just those who didn't have insurance through employers and/or those on the individual market.

The whole whining about them "being exempt" was a dumb political ploy.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

You're really going with the Large Private Employer excuse?  From a public perspective, would you not agree that it makes sense to practice what you preach.

It's not an excuse, it's true. Congressional staffers were already given comprehensive insurance plans from their employer...the exact types of plans the law tried very hard not to touch.

If anything, we should all be getting their government provided insurance, not the other way around.

serious question here...but is the ACA affecting anyone here negatively?

because other than the people on TV, i have not met a single person who is going to pay more next year. i work for a very large publicly traded company and everyone i know, whether married, single with kids, etc. is paying a shtein ton less next year. and this wasn't really even enacted for people like us.

Munson

I benefited once already from the law, being able to go back on my parent's insurance. Now that I'm 26, my income isn't enough to qualify me for a subsidy, so I'll be going on Medicaid. My state accepted the Medicaid expansion, but I'm pretty sure I'd qualify anyway.

ACA is going to cost me less than 1/2 of what my company offers.  But I hate having extra money in my pocket so therefore, I hate the ACA.

I haven't even looked but I'm hoping that my plan will go down.  Like Matty I work for a very large corporation and aren't part of this first round.  Based on the ever constant increases I've seen since joining the workforce, it would be great to see some stopping to the bleeding.

so there were no super hard questions obviously, but the barry - chris matthews interview was really good.

you know what i mean...it was msnbc so there were no specifics like why didn't this work, etc. was good in the sense that it showed the human side of barry which we haven't seen in a while.
