actually our raise is the smallest in like 35 years...which im glad about...i make more than i should and id rather the money go somehwere else...but its still strange because normally raises are phat under democratic admins and stingy with pubs...the whole pubs are anti govt is true...but barry actually is standing string and pissing off a lot of govt employees and his constituency by sending he money elsewhere and you have to respect him for that

Senate finds the 60th vote. Lack of a public option is disappointing but lol at a .9 increase in medicare tax for people making over 200 grand a year being a "massive tax increase".

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

What's great is all the right wing undedumacteds touting Lieberman as their savior.

The only reason he is doing this is because 1) He hates the powers that be in the Democratic party 2) A ridiculous % of his state's workforce are employed by...get this, THE INSURANCE COMPANIES.  Shocking, it really is.

Munson

I think it's something like 75% of the state is in the health insurance industry :-D

Whatever. The worst part is the Repubs are gonna try and paint this as a failure because Obama didn't change all the things he wanted to change...when THEY'RE the reason why he couldn't. The Dems were again the Hoydas who gave up concession after concession while the GOP refused to budge an inch. What else is new.

Really?  :-D the Dems have the power everywhere, but their own party members held them up for ransom. Both sides are bums and need to be thrown out on their asses.

Munson

The moderate dems were asking for changes to it, but they could have/maybe would have budged. The Republican senators were asking for all sorts of compromise without doing any themselves. You're being naive if you can't admit to how ridiculously stubborn and unwilling to work with the Dems the GOP has been.

When have the Dems worked with the repubs and when have the repubs worked with the dems? Whenever the one is in power the other works against them, I think Hillary called it "Patriotism" during the last repub power stint. Both sides are in it for themselves, not the american public.

Munson

Agreed most of the time....but this health bill is a perfect example of how much the repubs refuse to work with the dems. They demanded things be taken out of the bill, and still won't vote for it.

And^^^ There it is. All the concessions in this deal have been made by the majority party....and the republicans STILL won't vote for it claiming the Dems havn't worked with them at all. The GOP wouldn't be happy with this bill unless it did very little to change things, or in other words didn't exist.

I'll never understand why someone would want to fight progressiveness. Yes, let's stay stagnant for years to come and never try to improve upon things while lowering the deficit. The USA will definitely stay on top that way!

QB Eagles

The concessions were made to pick up moderate Democrats in the Senate. They didn't have all the Democrats on board (which they needed) until yesterday.

Munson

THe point is the dems have moderates that would be willing to compromise....They got the changes they wanted and will now vote. The GOP is like the 5 year old standing there crossing its arms and going "hmmpf" and refusing to move.

:-D Yeah, Nelson, Lieberman, and the guy from the great state of Louisiana were so willing to compromise. That is after they were bribed. This bill is going to be a huge scam.

ice grillin you

why would the dems even think about working with the republicans...they should shove every single possible piece of legislation down their zealotty throats
