about five years ago me and my boy tried to start a liver farm in my basement

How did all the college kids escape?

I got a stern reprimand from my doctor this morning regarding the results of recent bloodwork, specifically the results of my liver enzymes.

I was curious, how many beers do you consume each week & have you ever had it affect a blood test?

I had the same warning roughly 2-3 years ago during a physical, since then I've slowed down a bit. During the summer I'd probably drink a 12 pack a week then another case during the weekend. These days - mostly for health reasons, I've slowed down. Now I'll drink about a 12 pack during the entire week and that's more than enough for me. What also helps is that I'm not subject to random piss tests meaning I can substitute some green for some brew.

For those of you with the multi-drink-a-day habit...why?  Just curious.

It counteracts the effects of the methamphetamine.

I drink beer because it tastes good.

Diomedes

last night I had no alcohol or anything else.

i did drink at lunch tho.  couple or three flutes of veuve cliquot and a snifter of grand marnier.

i slept horribly, dreamt that my old lady ditched me for a woman.

So do I.  I also limit how much I drink because it isn't all that good for me.  But you don't really fall into the heavy-drinker category, I don't think.

Diomedes

I don't limit things because they aren't good for me.  thats a recipe for a long boring life of regret.

on the other hand, i'm not exactly shooting heroin.  it's okay with me if I die a dozen years earlier than everyone else who jogs and has 1.5 beers per week.

Gotcha.

Maybe for you; but that's not true as a blanket statement, I don't think.  At least no more so that regretting doing all those things that eventually caught up with you.

Diomedes

Yeah, for me.

For other people, being sober and present for life is a better option no doubt.  I don't generally trust people like that,  but I acknowledge their existence.

Me too.  Mostly because they make wonderful DD's.  Other than that, they're virtually useless.

Um, because reality is boring. Also, being drunk gives me an excuse to say all of the idiotic things that I have inside of me, that are just begging to get out and would otherwise be completely out of line.

Oh, right. I almost forgot. Genetics. Every male on the maternal side of my family for as long as there is any recollection has been a booze jockey. I've just mastered the art of being functional... so far.
