Bottled up my first batch yesterday. Tried one but it's hard to gauge the taste because it's flat without the carbonation. Gonna give it a month before I try another one. It had an odd odor but I guess that's normal. Had a Sam Fall sampler pack and cracked open a Pumpkin ale last night. Smelled and taste almost exactly like what I brewed. If it's decent I'll bring some to either the Giants or Dallas game in late October.

My next batch I'm thinking Nut Brown Ale.

so we gonna see some of this sunday ?

it said you could put in your own selection people couldve choose dogfish.

i know dogfish is popular (i dont like it one bit) but i doubt its even remotely close to lager.

Write ins are never going to win though. I'm saying in Delaware it definitely could have won. Probably the only state that it would. Home town team loves their beer here.

But yeah SB, Yuengling blows it out of the water volume wise.

I used to love Yuengling a lot but now I have trouble enjoying it as much as I used to if it's not through a nitro tap. farging delicious when it is though. I have yet to taste a wing sauce that doesn't go well with Yeungling.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

gotcha - forgot yyou're in bidenville.

i used to love lager as well but i steered away from beer in general for a while but now have gotten into the craft beer scene. been digging sea dog blueberry and to show my contradictive tastes dogfish's pumpkin ale which i had for the first time at the kc tailgate.

You, sir, need to re-evaluate your entire belief system. Dogfish Head varieties are basically everything that's right about beer. On a CF scale, Dogfish Head is essentially The Wire of beers.

On a related note, I'll buy Yuengling every once in awhile, because it's cheap and reminds me of some good college parties. Much like Rolling Rock, it's a solid ice cold choice in the summer for a lighter palate. But, come on, it's not a GREAT beer. Sam Adams is definitely a higher quality on the beer scale for people who actually like the taste of beer.

smeags

i have tried several and the pumpkin ale is the only one i liked.

again i'm not big on beer anymore so my opinion on it should hold no water as i'd much rather drink vodka or smoke a pipe of denver tobacco.  :paranoid

No for two reasons, my tickets fell through, and the batch is bad.

I didn't know Blue Moon was so popular. I bought their pumpkin version a few weeks ago and it wasn't half bad.

Agreed on Dogfish, love it and Victory.

Seabiscuit36

Blue moon is owned by MillerCoors.  The best part about Blue Moon's advertising has been ignoring that fact.  And thats coming from a guy who has a genetic predisposition to Miller  Lite.  I think a road trip to Wisconsin is coming now, to the motherland.

They're not ignoring it. They're almost hiding it. Damned big boys are threatened by the micros and they try to do some smoke and mirror acts to infiltrate the demographic.

Munson

as long as they don't interfere  too much with the recipe or operations of these places, I don't mind too much. Goose Island has remained decent even though they're owned by one of the big boys now.

Agreed.

FWIW, the place my son works for is having a pumpkin ale event tomorrow night. At least 20 different brews on tap. Should be interesting.

Thats sounds like i good time.

NICE.  One of my neighbors grew up with Joe Sixpack from the daily news, and we had a beer tasting last october with him Joe hosting it.  Had 12 different types of pumpkins to try, it was awesome.
