I never understood born agains, it has to be painful on their moms  :-o

-- The Sixers will wear the new red alternates on Wednesday night.  Action News showed Dalembert and Iguodala wearing them today.  They look awesome...

-- Detroit Mercy dedicated their locker room to Willie Green

Quote2003 Horizon League Player of the Year Willie Green, now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, will be honored for his generosity to the Titans. The new "Willie Green Men's Basketball Locker Room" has been named after the former Titan guard after his substantial donation helped fund the major renovation project this summer.

they look like steaming diarrhea

why the hell wouldnt the sixers go to one of their throwbacks...like seattle did for example...instead of trying to reinvent the wheel

these are amazing as are the ones with the bubble letters on front from 76...i even like the 1970 jerseys where the seventy sixers is written out in cursive on the front

Those do look like shtein, they should just go back to their throwbacks period.  Their current uniforms are a disgrace, there is no way they should have black uniforms.

Crappy video, and hopefully a better version will be available later today, but check out what Korver did yesterday at practice.  Off the wall, nothing but net...  :yay

That is a skill that is absolutely worthless during the game.  Muck like Kyle Boller throwing a ball 50 yards from his knees.

-- PhillyBurbs article on who the Sixers should draft

QuoteJonathan Givony, president of the popular Web site DraftExpress, a professional scouting service, would go with Durant — especially if he were running the Sixers.

"They've got issues with scoring," Givony said. "With the Sixers having Dalembert, he's not a great center, but he's at least serviceable. Durant is going to be better than Oden down the road. Players that are mechanical in the post, I don't think that's going to change. There's really no way to defend Durant."

Tony DiLeo, the Sixers' senior vice president of basketball operations and supervisor of the team's draft effort, can't comment on underclassmen who have not declared. But asked what's more vital, a dominant defender in the paint or a dynamic offensive forward, DiLeo responded: "Who won the championship last year?  I think a dominating center is the way to go."

-- Tom Moore column on Sixers "what ifs"

-- Mike Sielski column on how Pete Maravich almost became a Sixer

QuoteIn 1980, after the Utah Jazz released him, Maravich was still struggling with his demons, yet the Sixers and the Boston Celtics were battling to sign him, hoping he had enough magic left to help a team win a title. So Williams, who as the Atlanta Hawks' GM had traded Maravich in 1974, met him in Philadelphia and sent him to Temple University Hospital for a physical.

"The only real issue," Williams told Kriegel, "was his knee."

Williams went so far as to have Maravich's name stitched onto the back of a Sixers jersey, anticipating Pistol Pete would join Julius Erving for the greatest two-man show in the NBA. But Maravich signed with the Celtics instead, and when Sixers owner Fitz Dixon learned of the news, he immediately telephoned Williams and demanded an explanation.

"Williams didn't have an answer," Kriegel writes. "In time, though, he would attribute the loss of Maravich to an overzealous physician, who insisted on administering a rectal examination as part of Pete's physical. "Pete was really put out by that,' Williams said."
