2006 - 2007 Sixers Season Thread

from the Providence Journal...

QuoteThe word is that the Celtics have made a bid to the Philadelphia 76ers for Allen Iverson, offering Theo Ratliff, Al Jefferson, Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair.

The 76ers, in turn, will take all of the bids from the many teams interested in Iverson and make their decision today.

The 76ers are said to be interested in both salary-cap relief and young players, with Ratliff -- whose contract expires after the 2008 season -- as the cap relief. They coveted both Jefferson and West last summer when the Celtics expressed an interest in Iverson, and also have expressed interest in Ryan Gomes. One scenario is they do not have an interest in Gerald Green, as they already have young players who play Green's position.

Another scenario?

The Celtics have told the Sixers that Green is not available, and might also get away with not having West in the trade, throwing in a draft choice instead.

These things can change, however, and the word is there is some reluctance on the Celtics' part to move Jefferson, who a year ago was featured on the cover of their media guide and has been billed as one of the faces of the franchise. It's no secret that Danny Ainge spent a part of last summer trying to lure Iverson to Boston, a wish that hasn't gone away.

Stay tuned.

That trade sounds too good to be true, so it probably isn't.

Gotta be too good to be true.

If it is true and Billy hasn't called that idiot Ainge back yet he should be fired.

I'm no Telfair fan though. I'd rather have Rondo.

i never was a telfair fan either but he seems to be coming together this year.  he's got serious skills and he's only 21.  basically a draft pick.  i'd take him and jefferson alone.

hunt

i'd rather have the pick than delonte.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I hope they get Jefferson and do this deal with Boston. I like Jefferson and he has a ton of upside. Maybe we could work a 3-way where the Celtics get a piece which they'd be ok with giving up Jefferson.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

There's a deal with Iverson to the Bulls for 2 expiring contracts and Ben Gordon. Would you guys do it? I would reject it in a heartbeat, but I don't know If I'm in the minority.

I really cant believe that King would rather have West than what will easily be a top 10 pick even with Iverson on the team.l

Depends on the expiring contracts......how long/how much?  I like Ben Gordon though.  I'd have to see his VORP before passing final judgment though.

I'm not so sure that part of the report is true. I don't think anyone that has a pulse would take Delonte over a surefire lottery pick.

Hard to say. Gordon can be a mad man at times and drop points in bunches, but other times he can shoot poorly. If there is no better deal on the table I take it.

According to CSN, Charlotte says the AI nix report is total crap and they'd be interested in being the 3rd team in on a deal....but not the one that gets AI...

Sacramento and Denver dropped out of the AI talks today....
