ice grillin you

he doesnt get to do what he wants...he wants to blow off the event he pays the price in a fine...you want him cut or arrested then complain to the league about the collective bargining agreement or get congress to pass a law making it illegal to miss any off court team functions

Actually, he does do whatever he wants because there's no legitimate and plausible recourse for the Sixers.

They can't trade him because they can't get decent value.  They can't cut him because his contract is guaranteed.  They can't suspend him for detrimental conduct because they've set the precedent in the past that he can do whatever he wants without fear of reprisal.

All they can do is say, 'well, that's just Allen being Allen' and look the other way.  Just like they've always done.

or he could read his contract where it's already made it "illegal" to miss team fuctions.

He's above attending team functions.  Especially team functions where rich whitey's are present.

:-D

Nevermind doing what's right - just do whatever your contract stipulates.

QuoteIverson fined. Cheeks said Allen Iverson was fined for missing a mandatory team function Wednesday night with corporate sponsors, premium seat holders and some season-ticket holders. The amount of the fine was not disclosed.

"That's unfortunate," Cheeks said yesterday. "We certainly would like him to be there. But he's been fined. That's how we're going to leave it."

Cheeks said Iverson, who has averaged 40.7 points in his three games since returning from a two-game absence resulting from dental surgery, practiced with the team yesterday. The coach replied in the negative when asked if the team captain told him why he missed the function.

The Sixers held a gathering for their VIPs with players and members of the coaching staff and front office at Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes in Center City. Iverson was the only player to miss the party, Cheeks said.

King was not available for comment.

Cheeks: Yes, Sir

Fixed.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Eaglez

Iverson is, what, 31 years old? He should learn to function in a professional environment. He doesn't have to be buddy/buddy with the 'suits', but at least show some respect to them by showing up to that function. It's just common courtesy, and Iverson has demonstrated that he doesn't have a whole lot of it when it comes to those functions.

I like Allen Iverson, I think he can be a really compassionate guy some of the time. But, a good chunk of the time he can be extremely stubborn, and he has no good reason for it.

Fining Iverson is in no way a deterrence. The guy makes so much money that a $10,000 fine or whatever it was is a drop in the bucket. And, really, who cares? It just shows that Iverson has bad character when it comes to these things.

Iverson can be someone that is very loyal and compassionate, but some of the time the things he does has me shaking my head.

MDS

They lost to the Nets.

Iverson said he wasnt feeling well, so he took some pills, and feel asleep. This is why he missed the corporate meet and greet. Maybe his boy igy believes that, but come on, does he actually think that bullshtein works anymore?

Dillen

I only saw the box score, but Carney started and was 10-19 with 20 points and 5 rebounds.

Iguodala took 6 shots. SHOOT THE fargING BALL.
