Alex Marvez, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, compiled a list of the projected '07 cap space for the NFL's 32 clubs. The Eagles are 25th on the list, just $12.4 million under the league's '07 cap of $109 million.

The cap just went up to $116 million

Even the best free agents are other teams' cast-offs.

I don't care about them.  I want the Eagles to start drafting better players, period.

Looking at the current FA class, this is probably a good year for the Eagles to not have much space.

But the space should open up considerably. I don't think anyone expects Dhani Jones or Darwin Walker to be back if the Eagles can unload their salary for a very small cap penalty (I don't know how their bonuses look)

Thomas has played well this year, but considering they traded up to pick Winston Justice and Thomas is making 4.33 million, I wouldn't be surprised if he is let go. The Eagles are in a tough bind with Thomas; I'm assuming they thought he wasn't going to play as well as he has this year with his back and all and now he's still playing at a high level.

However, if Justice is ready come the start of next year, and there is a FA they want (preferably someone like Lance Briggs) then I think it would make sense to cut loose Thomas.

I kinda hope they keep him. But I know that if they do, he'll end up hurting his back next year anyway.

Maybe they can package him in a deal to move up in one of the rounds next year.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

the problem is you dont know if justice is ready to play next year until he actually plays....and by then its to late

Garcia won't be here next year. Bet.

Fiddlesticks.  I mean, look at how Matt McCoy has turned out.

SunMo

yeah he will.  they are already talking about re-signing him.  where else would he go?

Domo just said in his chat that he thinks that the Eagles don't think Herremans has the foot speed to play tackle...interesting.

i mean i want justice in there...i wanna see if he can play...but when youre putting a total unproven back there at a position like left tackle that doesnt exactly scream superbowl run to me...more like rebuilding mode....color me crazy but id like to see them trying to win next year instead of grooming young players like justice and gocong
