Actually... I'd prefer if all their losses for the rest of the season were blowouts. Much easier to take.

I'm disgusted to agree with you.

Right.  They should be no worse than 6-1, but they're not.  And ugly wins early in the season can lead to the playoffs, where anything could happen.  But this team has already farged themselves out of no less than 2 wins, and they won't and don't deserve to make the playoffs at all.

below is bob ford from todays inky...saying a lot of what i have been saying in this and other threads...tho not nearly as well....

But McNabb has been so good this season, perhaps he deserves a pass on this one. The guy is throwing up on the field - what is it with McNabb and playing in Florida? - and still brings the team back to take an improbable lead with 33 seconds to play.

That's a win right there. Not a well-deserved win, but a win. It remained a win right up until the moment Matt Bryant kicked the third-longest field goal in the 86-year history of the league.

"That's pretty unbelievable," receiver Reggie Brown said. "I think we've lost in the last minute every possible way there is. Hopefully, we're over that phase."

To get over it, Andy Reid has to start doing a better job, and not just say, "I've got to do a better job."

He was outcoached by Sean Payton in New Orleans, and he couldn't think of a thing to bring Jon Gruden out of his shell yesterday. To protect Gradkowski, Gruden ran a bland, no-risk offense and hoped for the best.

"That's what he does," cornerback Sheldon Brown said. "He's not going to make mistakes, and he's going to force you to beat him."

"He didn't put his quarterback in any situations where he could lose it for them," cornerback Lito Sheppard said.

The Eagles can't say the same thing, and that's what is completely backward about this picture. The lesser team should be the one that has to take risks, and is punished for them. The better team is the one that can afford to play conservatively and win the game of attrition.

With the better team on the field - the Eagles outgained Tampa Bay in net yardage, 506 to 196 - there was no reason to throw weak passes in the vicinity of Ronde Barber. It isn't as if Hank Baskett or Greg Lewis is capable of winning those fights. And there is no reason to present McNabb with a clock-management dilemma of the sort he has always handled badly.

It really comes down to knowing your team and being willing to accept a win that is short on style points. Gruden was happy to do that yesterday. Reid wasn't. He wanted the whole Fly Eagles Fly routine, even though the team is clearly incapable of that right now.

I would be all for firing Reid mid-season and promoting Heckert to GM with full personnel control... but I don't think there's anyone currently on the coaching staff that I'd rather have as head coach.  As much as I question some of Reid's coaching moves, I doubt he'd take the wind in overtime.

ice grillin you

cant do it midseason

but this offseason they need to move in a new direction in terms of how the team is run from the head coaching position...even if you like andy you have to see that its time for a systematic change

It's at least time for a new WR coach, DC, and maybe even special teams coach.

SOARIN EAGLE

Ice do you ever have anything good to say about the Eagles. I have been on this board a short time and haven't seen one positive note from you about the Eagles. Fans like you the Eagles don't need.

ice grillin you

have you seen anything real positive from them to speak about...sorry if 4-3 right now doesnt cause my bathing suit area to grow

as a whole tho my anger stems from four nfc championships + one superbowl = no championships...thats to me is disgraceful and i will never let andy reid and donovan live that down as long as im a fan...i backed them to the death gave them the benefit of the doubt after all those losses...even thought they would beat new england much less win all the title games (other than stl)

but the facts are a choking qb and a disgraceful game day head coach cost them and until one or both of them win a superbowl then the jig is up

The truth is that there isn't much positive that has happened this season. All of the pre-season hope, which I did not share, has given way to reality, which is that this is a very mediocre team. Some fans of some teams would be happy with mediocre. Any Eagles fan who's happy with mediocre should be lit on fire.

SOARIN EAGLE

I do agree that there are plenty of things the Eagles need to improve on but the same thing can be said of any team in the NFL including the Chicago Bears who many say are the best team in the NFL this year. The Eagles are  3rd in ppg, 1st in total yards a game, 1st in total 1st downs, 10th in 3rd down efficiency, 1st in total Td's and 8th in scoring efficiency.

Last week Donavan McNabb very well could have lost the game for the Eagles with his two interceptions. But instead he was able to get his team in the lead for the 3rd time this year before the opponent's final game deciding drives. It's hard to put any blame on the Eagles offense when they hand the game over to the defense, only to have them blow it. They have blown it with stupid mistakes and stupid penalties. The blame for all of these years losses belong on the defense.

IMO clock management has come down to Brian Westbrook's health or should I say lack of being 100% healthy. The First two weeks the Eagles ran the ball 30 times and haven't come close to that again until last week when they ran the ball 21 times by design. As the coaching staff feels more at ease that Westbrook is going to stay healthy the more I feel they will run the ball.
Yes the blame does belong to the coaching staff also IMO for playing a prevent defense in each of the games losses. For Gods sake the Eagles played prevent from the middle of the 3rd quarter of the Giants loss. For this I blame the coaching staff. I really never could figure out why teams play a prevent defense, all it seems to do is prevent the teams playing it from coming away with a win.

To sit here and write that McNabb and Reid need to go is crazy. We saw what a team without McNabb would look like last year. Don't particularly want to see a season like that again in the near future.

I can understand your frustration over the 4 NFC Championships and one Super Bowl appearance with no rings. But take a look at it this way. We could be fans of teams like the Arizona Cardinals. It's hard not having a Super Bowl ring but I would take the 5 years of football (except last year) than be a team like the Tampa Bucs that have done nothing since their Super Bowl win, but get worse every year.

reid needs to go

there i said

oh and saying your team is better than the worst team in the history of football to make you feel better about things imo is pretty sad
