I'm running the Philly half marathon on Sunday morning. I'm not ready to break 2:00, so I'm going to take it easy and finish in 2:15. Then, I get to pass out half dead and wake up just in time to watch the Eagles go to 3-7. YAY!

Aside from me finishing in 2:11:36, my last post was accurate. Also, I literally got to give Mike Nutter a high five.

Do any of you meatheads use supplements? I just started using the pre-workout powdered drink mix supplements NO XPLODE and Dagger and was surprised by the effectiveness in how the extra energy translated into lifting power, and am also a huge fan of the results. Please reply with recommendations of preferred supplements.

SD

I used NO XPLODE for a little while. Watch out for the side effects. I know people who's balls hurt, got the shteins, and got depressed from the shtein. My buddy gave me a weeks worth to try so I didn't notice many side effects.

Definately go slow with it. I think the bottle says two scoops. I started with a 1/4 and worked my way up. Even still I stopped using it when I would get light headed after a set. If you like the extra "pump" but not the caffeine overdrive, looked into NITRIX.

started up another rushfit round monday after taking a month off and getting fat over the holidays.  good farging lord my hamstrings are screaming.

I finally decided to break out Kinect Your Shape.  Apparently myshape is round.  Holy crap after a 40 minute workout, i was ready to die, and eat potato chips.

NO XPLODE and Creatine are the only supplements I use when I'm loading. And yes, the results are ridiculous. SD is right, the side effects of NO XPLODE can be a little off-putting which makes sense since the FDA hasn't even approved it as a product yet but jesus does that shtein give you an extra boost when you're lifting.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Thanks, I was curious about NO Xplode until I saw how much caffeine it had. I use a branch chain AA powder that tastes like shtein (next time I'll look for it in caps).

Does anyone use HMB? I've used it off and on and seemed to see some results but don't know if it justifies the price. Anyone use it?

I find glutamine really helps with recovery time, I can probably do a workout a full day earlier using it.

Dillen

My old gym was overrun by dumbass kids who thought they were the shtein, so after a couple months of that I finally changed gyms. Got a membership to a powerlifting gym where everyone is farging enormous, $138 for a full year (they have their own supplement store where they make all their $$, so membership can be cheap). It's ridiculous. Everyone is 6'3 250 of muscle. There's this dude named Mensing who looks like he's the last remaining ancestor of the Norse, who deadlifts 9 plates to a side.

So needless to say, I am never going to another gym again.

I just signed up for the Tough Mudder in Philly on 1 June.

Have any of you guys ever done this before? I have a few friends who did it, and it looked pretty friggin intense.

Sgt PSN

Even when I was a grunt and got paid to do that type of stuff, it still sucked.  I can't imagine how awful it would be if I did it at a cost out of my own pocket.

Have fun.

I've been the same way - a guy I work with came into my office this morning and asked if I wanted to join his team, so I figured if not now, when. If nothing else, it will give me a reason to train, and will hopefully keep me motivated throughout. I was going to run a half marathon up at West Point this summer, but this seems like a lot more fun.
