Less red meat, more chicken.  I practically eliminated red meat for about 6 weeks and only ate grilled chicken.  Lost nearly 20lbs.  I also took Metabalift about 30 min before each meal.

High carbs in the morning.....bagel with egg whites, tomato slice and a few sprinkles of parm.

1 apple, 1 banana mid morning.

Grilled chicken salad/wrap for lunch.

1 apple, 1 banana mid afternoon

Another grilled chicken salad/wrap for dinner.  Twice a week, I'd eat either salmon or shrimp.

Did that 6 days a week.  On Sunday I'd give myself 1 "cheat meal" to eat whatever I wanted.

My diet isn't quite as strict now....basically I take the weekends off and enjoy food.

I find I do better without wheat, so I've been staying away from that. I try to get a lot of protein in the form of chicken and eggs, along with lean beef, to a lesser extent. I don't eat that many grains because I tend to do better on lower carbs, but I do get plenty in the form of fresh fruit (lot of cherries and berries lately) and vegetables (mostly broccoli, spinach and other greens). It's meant more visits to the store because of the freshness, but it seems to work for me.

I'm just amazed that THawk decided to drink less milk to get healthier. He had convinced me that 7 gallons a week was literally a totally good idea. Totally.

Literally.

So what's the story behind this forks and knives shtein? I've been biting the financial bullet and eating mostly organic meats of late. According to this fancypants documentary, does that make any difference or is the point simply that meat is bad for us and shtein?

The point is that you needn't spend a lot of money on meat, because it shouldn't be the centerpiece of your diet. While "Forks Over Knives" is clearly proclaiming the benefits of a vegan diet, they are careful to say "whole foods, plant-based" diet instead. Why? Because small amounts of properly prepared meats and animal-based foods like eggs and dairy can certainly enhance your enjoyment of eating and will not undo the benefits of eating larger amounts of vegetables, fruits, and grains.

A portion of P90X is yoga. farg all the kidding about it for women. Yoga is no joke. After P90X, I started going to a couple of classes a week with my wife. It'll help all other aspects of any kind of fitness you do. It's good shtein.

I found one at VCU that is led by a girl that looks like Megan Fox.  I pay no attention to whoever else is in class.  I do like the P90X yoga just because it is a good workout.

So, I've been running quite a bit and am now on a training plan for a 10-miler at the end of September and potentially the Philly 1/2 the Sunday before Thanksgiving. But my weight really isn't coming off - partially expected due to being a non-muscled POS prior to working out but still continuing after the muscle gains are likely leveled off.

After watching the aforementioned documentary in the movie thread ("Forks Over Knives"), I'm considering shifting toward more of a vegetable/fruit/grain-based diet - basically cutting out all dairy except yogurt, all red meat, all shellfish, and fried foods. Will keep eating chicken, fish, and eggs; but in moderation.

So... I'm looking for all kinds of feedback, especially the hurtful hippo kind.

Along with fried foods the one thing I try to avoid is trans fats, possibly the most unhealthy food substance out there (other than the small amounts naturally occurring in meat and cheese).  They try and trick you though. Even if the nutrition label says 0 gram trans you have to make sure the ingredients don't contain any partially hydrogenated oils (which are trans fats).

Pervert.

MCV gym noon yoga session.  Have to tone out the whole inner OHM and crap, but it's worth it.

I just signed up for the Philly 1/2 in November. So while IGY and phatty are tailgating at FedEx, I'll be collapsing of a heart attack.
