Thanks - I've never had any back issues before so I don't want to push it and make it worse.

I guess cardio today will be the bike and nothing else.

Sgt PSN

My cardio for today is a pack of Newports.

I borrowed the p90x set of DVD's from a guy I work with (active duty LTC, who swears by it), and did the first workout last night. Holy shtein, I can't move my arms now, if you paid me.

Not sure if I'll stick through till the end, but I'm going to try...anyone ever done this?

PhillyPhanInDC

I am about halfway through P90X right now. I am on my third week of phase 2. It's legit. I don't go in for all of the bullshtein they sell in terms of supplments, but the gear - pull-up bar and powerstands are money and of a better quality than the shtein you buy at Dick's or Sports Authority.

I started about 40 or so days ago and was 199 (I'm 5'10), and now I'm 183 and I've gone from size 36 jeans back to my old 32s.

Did you do Plyometrics (Disc 2) last night?

I actually started on Disc 1 yesterday...the workout kind of confused me - how is it broken up?

Are you supposed to follow the DVDs in order? Or is there a program to follow? My buddy only gave me the DVDs..

I'm halfway thru a quart of Hot and Sour soup.  I add chili pepper oil so it helps with the weight loss.

I would follow the DVDs in order for now. I will post up the phases when I get home and look into the book. Tonight, you'll do Disc 2, which is Plyometrics, or Jump Training. Are you in decent shape overall? If not, I'd recommend starting slow, it's a motherfarger of a workout.

I'd also try to get it so you do Disc 1 on Monday, 2 on Tuesday, etc. The program is based on "muscle confusion" so you'll be doing a lot of things that seem odd at first, a bit frustrating, but you'll fall into the pattern.

Phase 1, Weeks 1-3:

Monday: Legs and Back, Ab ripper
Tuesday: Plyometrics
Wednesday: Shoulders and Arms, Ab ripper
Thursday: Yoga
Friday: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper
Saturday: Kenpo
Sunday: Stretch X or rest.

If you didn't notice last night, after the MWF workouts, if you let the disc continue to play, it will roll right into the Ab Ripper workout which lasts 15 minutes.

This is the physical test I have to take for the Bozeman PD.  I'm laughing at everyone they show because you'd think they just finished running the tough mudder or something based on how out of breath they are and talking about how challenging it is.  The fatty at 7:33 is farging hilarious.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObQcu2BJ5KU

6 laps of this course = 1/4 mile.  I've been timing myself in the 1/4 mile for the last 3 days and I'm running it in 2m30s without breaking a sweat and none of the "obstacles" in this course are physically demanding to navigate so I can't really see how this thing is wearing those people out so much.

Not much I can really do to simulate that push/pull machine, at least not with the equipment in my gym, but I don't think that's going to be very challenging.  Neither are the backwards or forward falls.  And the buddy drag with a 165lb dummy is a joke.  We do a buddy drag as part of our combat fitness test and I have to drag someone +/- 10lbs of my own body weight 25 yds and we do that on a grass field, which offers a little more resistance.

The only variable that might make this a little more challenging for me is the fact that the altitude up there is about 4500 ft, which is about 2000 ft higher than where I am right now.  I'll be getting into town 2 days before the test, so I'll acclimate a little bit but not much.

Thanks for the info - I'd like to think I'm in decent shape, but even still, I'm probably in the worst shape of my life. I'm about 195, and starting to feel soft.

So today, start with disc 2 and not part 2 of disc 1?

I actually thought the ab-ripper was for the second workout, so I didnt do it. Guess I'm already slacking..

I did P90x last year and got about the same results. I went from 204lbs to 170lbs @ 90 days, size 36 to 32. I wouldn't go through the dics in order, there are 3 phases you can follow(I didn't follow their diet just ate less). I also did kempo in place of yoga... go luck with the Plyo and keep pushing play...lol
