I know Troy wants to play, but I can see him as a DB coach somewhere. Or else he moves into the executive ranks of the NFLPA.

Releasing Wynn would suffice.  We'd still have Mahe to return punts.   :(

So you dress 5 safeties and 4 CBs when Hood returns?

Remember Troy doesn't play STs.

Wynn has been doing well.

Wynn has been impressive lately.  I love troy but as was said unless someone goes down, we're ok in the secondary.

Yeah, I would Phreak.  I've seen Lewis screw up enough in coverage this year to at least see what Troy has left in the tank.  It'll be too late to sign him when Lewis blows a coverage in the playoffs.

Lewis ain't no great coverage guy - but that's crazy talk. As bad as he's been he's still a better cover guy than Roy Williams and several other SS's out there.

And if Hood goes down again? You have to bring Dexter back. What if someone else grabs Dexter?

They'll be fine.

Butchers Bill

If someone wanted Dexter, they could have had him after we cut him the first time.

Lewis is a liability in coverage.  He almost blew the Cowboys game because he let a WR get behind him on 4th and 18...that is unacceptable.

Would Troy be better?  I do not have the answer to that question.  Thats why he'll have to work out for the coaches to see what he's got left.  If he's got something left, he would be a great insurance policy.

That was prior to Dexter having the 2nd best PR average in the league Joel.  He would be gone in a second this time around.  Last time he got cut for Joselio Hanson so he had no stock

Well, Dexter has looked much better this time around. The NFL teams saw him suck back then and see him playing well now.

That play was bad on Lewis' and Brown's part. Sheldon bit on the dig and Mike let him get deep. The PI was smart at the time because if he doesn't hack him, he likely scores. But it was his fault for putting himself in the hack or not situation.

But - I go back to my previous point. They can only dress 46 players on gameday. Troy doesn't play CB any longer and he doesn't play STs.

Who are you going to sit? Or are you going to decativate him each week ala the Skins with Duckett just in case? They do not have the luxury of doing that with the guys they have banged up. You dress 4 safeties (Dawk, Lewis, Considine & Mikell) and you dress 5 CBs because of Dexter's KR/PR ability (Brown, Sheppard, Hood, Hanson, Wynn)

You could sit or cut Wynn and then you still have 4 S's and 4 CBs ahead of Troy. There is no room for him, bro. And they are not benching Lewis - thats crazy

QB Eagles

Michael Lewis is tied for second on the team in tackles, and tied for first in passes defended.

I like having that little giddy-up in the punt return game...I won't deny that.  So lets say they want/need to keep Wynn.  Mahe now becomes expendable because they have Westy, Buck, Moats, Tapeh at RB and Wynn to return punts.

For the same reason Everson Walls used to lead the league in INT's every year.  Teams are throwing his way because they know they will beat him for a big play.

Reno has been a solid ST'er this year as always.  The only way troy comes back is as a coach/badassador or with an injury to Mikell or Considine

Jesus...I never thought I'd hear someone defending Mahe's ST's ability.  He should be serving me fries at Chickie and Pete's not playing professional football.

Troy, if he was willing, would make an excellent insurance policy on obvious passing downs.  Not saying he should/could come in a start, but in some situations he could certainly help.
