So we need 7 Finnish defensemen?

YES!  More Finns equals more Wins  :-D

I just read after the game Forsberg said his foot feels much better.   :yay  Keep upping that value.

Nitty has proved what he can do if you have a good D in front of him.  I still think nitty has a lot of upside, he's won at very high levels, but with the D the flyers are putting out there, its no wonder why he went so long w/o a win.
plus, he's playing this year with a hip-load of painkillers.  I do think he's a #1...and for the future.

I was on record as being against the shootout from the beginning.  It would be like playing 10 innings of baseball, then deciding the winner by having a home run derby.  To me, it cheapens the game.

the diference is there are way more overtimes in hockey than extra innings games in baseball...so you really cant compare the two...if hockey overtimes were as rare as extra inning baseball overtime basketball or football games theyed have no problem playing it out...but you cant be having games go to midnight every other day

Highest percentage of overtime games is less than one in four games.  And I'd rather EVERY game go to midnight than to decide a hockey match with a carnival sideshow like a shootout.

MDS

they need to make ot 2 pts for a win and 0 pts for a loss. 1 pt each to get to shootout, which should stay because it beats a tie.

but then again, within 10 years this sport will have no fan base left and will be only played in canada and strange scandanavian countries.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I think shootouts are 'exciting' and I'm also not in favor of ties, but you are deciding games with a talent competition.  A shootout really has nothing to do with the sport.  It is such an arbitrary way to decide who should get the extra point.  They could just as well flip a coin.

Geowhizzer

The thing is, having shootouts deciding hockey games cheapens the penalty shot as well.

Used to be that the penalty shot - when it was rarely occurring - was one of the most exciting moments in sport.  A man-on-man withing in the context of the game.

Now, it really doesn't excite me at all.  Watching Forsberg and Gagne's pathetic attempts the other day was more sad than anything else.

Up 3-2 at New Jersey with under :30 left?  Too good to be true.  The Devils scored with :21 left to send it to OT...

12 days later, it happened again.  Up 5-4 with :35 left.....Devils score

rjs246

Hahaha, reading through the Flyers boxscores has been ridiculous this year. Who in the farg are these players? Christ they're awful.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

BigEd76

Devils just won it in OT  :-D

Pathetic

Rome

I thought I was the only Philly fan in the world outside of the Del. Val. watching that abortion.

The Flyers scored five goals in 60 mintues against arguably the best goaltender of the past 25 years tonight.

Oh, and they farging lost.

Bury everyone, especially the Romes who were supposedly playing "defense" tonight.

How about we just go ahead an start the offseason thread now?
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Because with Holmgren at the helm, there's not much hope there, either.
