His quotes in the paper seemed like he was crying about getting booed.

Quote"You make a play like that, you lose a game, there is nothing you can do," Rathje said. "It's funny how that happens when guys are working hard every night. You make a mistake like that and people get upset.

"I went to make a pass to Randy [Jones] and it went off my stick. I don't know how it happened. It ain't the first time it's happened to me... . You want to make good plays at the end of the game. Guys throw interceptions [that are returned] for touchdowns. It happens. You live with it."

Put his ass on waivers.
after this season (unfortunately, not sooner), we can say goodbye to Hatch and Rathje, and their contracts.  THEN, we can start rebuilding this team.

Flyers beat the Isles 3-2. Nitty with 39 saves.

BigEd76

Fedoruk, wearing a cage over his helmet, made his first shift as a Flyer....and scored 5 seconds into it....  :yay

The BIGSTUD

Flyers get robbed of a gift-wrapped win. Nitty was intefered clearly on a late goal by the Devils but they counted it. Nitty wasn't knocked down until the puck went in, but was clearly interfered as the puck was in the air.

Oh well the Devils aren't doing anything this year anyway. Let them have their "win."
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Next role for Clarke: Flyers' senior vice president
Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA -- Bob Clarke returned to the Philadelphia Flyers as a senior vice president Monday, more than six weeks after he quit as the team's general manager because of burnout.

"Bob's experience as a player and general manager over the last 37 years is invaluable," Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said.

"This is a way to keep Clarkie involved in the organization and utilize the knowledge that he has gained over the years," he added. "He is a tremendous resource that we can call upon. We should take advantage of that and Bob is certainly willing to help out the organization any way that he can."

Clarke was Philadelphia's general manager from 1984-90 and again from 1994 until Oct. 22, when he resigned with the Flyers off to a 1-6-1 start. Clarke said he had grown tired of the general manager's duties and the hours.

"I'm really glad that I'm still associated with Paul and the team," Clarke said. "It was a tough decision [to resign] but it was the right decision. But I don't want to be left out of the team. Whatever Paul sees me as, whether it's scouting or he wants my opinion, then I'll offer it. I'm not there to do someone else's job. I'm just there if Paul sees a way I can help."

As general manager, Clarke never matched the success he had as a Hall of Fame player when he led the Flyers to Stanley Cup championships in the 1973-74 and 1974-75 seasons.

Clarke finished his career as the Flyers' all-time leading scorer with 1,210 points (358 goals and 852 assists) in 1,144 games over 15 seasons.

As a senior vice president, Clarke will focus mostly on monitoring the Flyers' player-development program.

"The fun of watching the game is still there for me," Clarke said.

He was out of the crease, it was his own fault. Giving up a shorthanded goal with 2 minutes left with the game on the line is what I've come to expect from this team. They blow.

SD_Eagle5

Forsberg to miss 4 games because of a faulty skate boot. Not that it matters because they suck so bad.

And for those following along, they got shutout tonight by the Devils 2-0

QuoteFlyers waive Nedved again
By Tim Panaccio
INQUIRER STAFF WRITER

These days, you have to sift through the rubble to find bits and pieces of good news, bad news, and interesting news when it comes to the Flyers.

Today was a classic example.

The day began with the surprising good news that Geoff Sanderson won't need abdominal surgery. He has a mild strain in his abductor area, not a complete tear, according to the MRI taken this weekend.

Mike Richards, who has a severe abdominal tear, will undergo surgery today.

The bad news concerned the roster, where Petr Nedved, who turned 35 on Saturday, was again placed on waivers. If he is not claimed, he'll go to the Phantoms, but he won't be recalled again as a Flyer, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

So Nedved's brief Flyers career - he arrived in late January - is over for good? "Yeah, it's safe to say that," Holmgren said.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

more food for thought...for the few of us that are paying attention to the Flyers...
QuoteObvious names to add to the list with LeClair are Jason Allison and Brian Leetch. Both are free agents currently not playing, and either would help right now. Allison can score and Leetch would add experience, leadership and a puck moving
defenseman on the back end, especially on the power play.

Those are not moves that will cost the future.

The Flyers are 12 points out of the last playoff spot in the East with 20 points. They have 53 games left. To make the playoffs they are going to need at least 70 points out of the remaining games.

That is an unqualified long shot. It will be an even longer shot without Holmgren making some moves this week.
