I said it before in this thread and I'll say it again, Hatcher was the worst F/A signing in Flyers history, even worse than Gratton.

the 2002 acquisition of Adam Oates, where we gave up Maxime Ouellet (G), 2002 1st Rounder, 2002 2nd Rounder, 2002 3rd Rounder.  Oates was 39 yrs old at the time and only payed 14 games as a Flyer...what a shtein move by Clarke!

and the all-time topper...In 1991, the Flyers traded Peter Forsberg, Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Mike Ricci, Kerry Huffman, Steve Duchense, a 1st round pick (later became Jocelyn Thibault), and 15 million dollars to the Quebec Nordiques for Eric Lindros.

OH THE AGONY!

When we originally signed Gratton we were going to have to either A) give up 5 1st round picks or B) work out a trade with Tampa. Since the contract was so heavily frontloaded there was no way Tampa was going to match the offer, so we sent them Renberg. So it was sort of a trade but I always considered it an F/A signing. Not sure how we ended up with Gagne, Williams etc. in that deal (I was deployed) so maybe you can refresh my memory.

The Oates deal was a trade but that was Clarke's worst. The Lindros deal was on Russ Farwell's watch and at the time he was being hailed as the next great one so that trade at the time looked like a no-brainer.

But regardless of all that, Hatcher is the most useless player on the team. He's Pat Burrell minus the occassional HR.

you can't hate them going all out for Lindros, like SD said, he was supposed to follow in the steps of Lemiuex, Gretzgey, etc
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

and yet, they managed to win a Stanley Cup before the Flyers, that kinda makes me want to cry

I miss Shjon Podein.  Mostly because of the way he spelled his name.

His Father wanted to name him 'Wolfgang'...true story. I have an autographed stick of his, figure I'll wait till he's inducted into the Hockey HOF before I sell it.

Tampa gave us 3 #1's along with Gratton? Are you sure about that? I remember trading Gratton back to the Lightning for Renberg back and trading Svoboda to them for Dykhuis (another boneheaded move)

yes...instead of the 5 ones...tampa wanted some players back...so after the flyers were awarded gratton they worked out a trade instead of tampa getting all the numbers ones

Were they straight up picks or did we just swap 1st rounders with them?
