QuoteSome NFL people believe Hood is a better cornerback than Sheppard, who went to the Pro Bowl two years ago. Hood certainly has a lot of confidence and some impressive work to back it up.

According to Pro Football Prospectus 2006, Hood was the third-best cornerback in the NFL last season at stopping pass plays that were targeted in his direction. Teammate Sheldon Brown ranked fourth and Sheppard was 79th. The same publication listed Hood as allowing the fewest amount of yards on passes thrown his way, with a 4.9-yard average. Sheppard ranked 81st in the league with a 10.4-yard average.

Frankly, I do have more confidence in Hood than Sheppard, but this hurts the nickel and dime defenses significantly.

Les Bowen is reporting that Lito could miss 4-6 weeks...  :-\

They can't count on Lito.  There's PLENTY of reason for them to "tie up" that money.

The cap is seriously not constrictive anymore.  They can keep Hood with ease.
It doesnt matter, if Hood gets offered $5M a year to be the nickelback here, he'll probably either...
A) Sign for a bit less and start somewhere else
B) Get a hell of a lot more. Brian Williams got a huge contract.

Im just saying Eagles could draft a corner high who could do as well as Hood and be more cost effective. The chances of the corner being as good as Hood is now is slim to none, but you cant have your way every time.

It really has to make you think why Hood has become such a good player while 2 cb's who were actually drafted were cut.  Was it the coaching when Hood came in, or dedication by the individual player.

Then they should demote Lito to nickel and make Hood a starter.  Lito is a great playmaker, but he's not a reliable player, and that's not just factoring in his injuries.

Seriously.

The only reason I can come up with was that Hood played at Auburn with studs everywhere and great coaching. Wynn went to Colorado St, and Ware came out of the powerhouse-player-producing UCLA which has turned out studs such as Cade McNown and Freddie Mitchell.

Perry was cut to make room

Perry needs to go back to HS football, running in a straight line on kickoffs wont get you anywhere past the 25 yd line
