I thought that as soon they signed Stallworth.

Avant > Baskett

Baskett should be more in the mold of McCants, a tall Endzone target with a few sporadic catches in between.

Ok I am very reticent to post here anymore but the giants game brings out the worst in me.

I see a lot of trepidation going into this Giants game and though they are a good team they are a very undisciplined, shaky team loaded with head cases that can be taken out of their game by their own game plan never mind what the other team does to them.

That said, as someone else noted earlier the giants had every chance to win that game and simply did not execute and that's their problem.  They dropped three ints and had all kinds of penalties that cost them drives or momentum on drives going the other way.

Strayhan was neutralized and I believe is on the downside of his career and the interior of their D-line does not scare me one bit.  Also as noted earlier the Eagles interior O-line is a matchup problem for them.

Indy's defense is already terrible and they were down two starters against the G-nats and the Giants still could not punch the ball in when they needed to due to their errors and Eli giving in to what little pressure Indy's fron four was able to generate.

I know I will be charged with homerism but living in NY I get to see a lot of the Giants and hear a lot of radio analysis on them and one thing I know about them is that they don't respond well to adversity and they will face some against the Eagles this weekend.

If both teams play their best game I give the Eagles the edge because of their defense, their kicking game and of course because of 5.

I agree with most of you're assessment's. The GINTS do have some legit weapon's on offense. They have a strong running game, that is NOT a farse. The colts didn't get to Eli at all in that game..not one sack. That troubles me a bit..If they can stop Freeney from getting there, it wont be easy for us to get there either JJ is going to have to pull out some tricks. They will keep Jacob's in to pick up the blitz, and try to get shockey on one of the LB's or a safety...tuff match up, even for B-Dawk. My biggest fear is the Tiki screen pass on a JJ blitz that get's picked up...or even worse: a Jacob's screen on an all out blitz..That guy running loose in your secondary spells OUCH!

If the Eagles proctect D-Mac well, and they get pressure on Eli, they will be in the game till the 4th quarter....that is, IF they can slow down the GINTS run game a bit, and get some yards on the ground themselves..If D-Mac has to throw 40 times, were in trouble.

teams are just getting their wind back after finally playing  full 4 quarters. hence, more pressure on both sides of the ball should be applied now.

Team strength goes to OL: Giants
DL: slight edge to Eagles because of depth
                                     LB: Giants
WR: Eagles because of depth, westbrook option as WR
                                     RB: Giants--Tiki and Jacobs
                                     ST: Eagles--ball placed after punt/kickoffs, Akers/Johnson
                                     QB: Eagles
                                     TE: EVEN

The combo of Tiki and Jacobs has been proving dividends for them since the end of last year, and that right there could be the difference of the game, along with the LB's of the Birds giving up the short/med yard passes. Very close game

Prediction (as much as I dont want to)
Giants 26
Birds   20

hope i prove myself wrong big time....Go Birds!!

I agree with everything you say except for the score.  You forgot one item in your assessment, COACHING.  I think Coughlin is a stiff, and Andy Reid will outsmart him.  As was stated earlier in this thread, the Giants often come out undisciplined and mentally unprepared for big games.  What will kill them this season will not be a lack of talent or veteran guidance, it will be the lack of a coach to maximize their potential.  This is a scary team.  Really scary, but they lack the coach to make them consistent.  This, and the home field advantage, will win them the game this week.  I also think that this is one of the biggest games of the season, because it has the potential to absolutely derail the Giants season.  Their schedule IS brutal, and if we can win this one there is little chance they can fight back.  And if we win this and they somehow manage to fight through the season to make the playoffs, I gotta take my hat off(even though I don't wear hats), and as long as their not playing the Eagles in the playoffs I just might root for them.  I'll say eagles win 24-21

We need a quick score and lead, so the Giants are playing from behind and hopefully don't use the run much. If we don't, and can't put pressure on Eli, then they establish the run, and Eli goes to the air. That spells trouble, because I don't think we have anyone in the secondary who can cover Plax. If Eli has time to throw, Plax will burn our D.

how can you say that?? If anything it would be a tie until we see the Eagles OTs go against Osi and Strahan. I think the Eagles clearly get the edge her and if Andy continues to mix the run and pass they will only get stronger in the run game.

Um, no. The Giants' DEs are outstanding. The Eagles' OTs are good, but if anything it's a push or the Giants have an edge. No chance the Eagles 'clearly get the edge' in that matchup.

Obviously the Eagles' OL is better than the Giants' OL, but the ends of their DL are top notch.

our D-line is going to have to step up this week, plain and simple. same with the O-line, dominate.

Another thing to be considered in any discussion of the two lines is the loss of Chriss Snee from the Giants starting lineup.  I felt going in that the Eagles rotation, including the fact that the second squad is physically stronger than the first wave, would really be a loat to handle for the Giants o-line.

I think the Eagles may just start slowly again on defense but like an anaconda or a boa constrictor that slowly squeezes the life out of you and clamps down harder every time you struggle for breath this defense will, as in the Texans game, stifle, frustrate and choke this Giants offense right out.

If Coughlin sees the Juqua Thomas / Trent Cole line out there, he should run off tackle every time.
