this is a large oversimplification of his skills...hes not pinky whos going to basically run go routes to lengthen the field....in fact stallworth is more of an underneath mid range pattern runner as opposed to a deep route runner that is gonna pull safties with him...id compare him to santana moss...a guy that can and will go deep but a guy that comes out of his cuts exceptionally quick and creates speration that way as opposed to merely outrunning people...imo he is best utilized on crossing routes and higher % throws as opposed to super deep routes

This might be the best overall specific analysis of a football player I've ever seen from you, and it proves you're a rotten liar about watching no one but the Eagles.

However...

I dont think it had anything to do with not watching anybody else but the Eagles. Christ, you can see the highlights on espn w/out watching a Saints game in full to see what kind of catches Stallworth made into TD's...they surely werent just vertical TD's

Id love to know who came up with the assessment that Dontes only job is to run very fast and attract a safety and the Eagles will do just fine. Thats the corniest thing I ever heard.

and when he does that, the great Reggie Brown will have a stellar year? yeah, because thats how you beat NFL defenses....

He's a #2 receiver. A pretty good one. Elite is 1400 yards, teams gameplanning specifically for you, and the team selling your jersey for more than one year.

I believe he has the talent - speed, size, hands, work ethic and quarterback - to be exactly that with the Eagles.

Why is it so unreasonable on my part to expect excellent things from him?  I went from saying that 950 yards is perfectly attainable to suggesting that he's an elite player (meaning talentwise) who could be an excellent, front-line #1 receiver for the Eagles.

I'm merely suggesting a possible progression that could take place based on his talent.

I could predict mediocrity for him like seemingly everyone else is if you like.  Would that be better?

the eagles will have home field wrapped up after 14 games and he sits the the last two games.  that's why i suggested he'd be close to 750 yards.  if he plays all 16...yeah...950 may be attainable.

Donte Stallworth eliteness will be overshadowed by Hank Baskett's eliteness.

...I need to sponsor a new player...

No one called Stallworth yet.

They have now.

More like one or two big games he has or doesn't have will make the difference between what the "homers" think he'll do this year and what the "Negadelphians" think he'll do this year, barring severe injury.

Homers:
AT LEAST 950 yards
7-8 TD's

Negadelphians:
NO MORE THAN 850 yards
4-6 TD's

Middle ground is not allowed.  Try again.

Put me down for homer if those are the choices.  I'm hopeful about Stallworth.

I'm hopeful as well.  I think that even if his numbers are more like 700-750 yards and 4 TD's, he'll still be better than any #2 receiver this team could have hoped for from within the previous ranks, and his presence on the field will pump up the numbers of McNabb, the running game, and the TE's.

MURP

From a historical standpoint,   TO is the only WR under Reid who has had atleast 900 yards receiving in a season.  Before that it was Irving Fryar in 1997.   Consider some things:

- that Reggie Brown is supposed to be the future of the Eagles WR's.
- that Reid has vowed to run the ball more this year.
- that Reids offense is based on spreading the ball around
- that Westbrook and LJ Smith are going to catch a lot of passes.

Considering factors like the aforementioned it would seem unlikely that Stallworth would hit 900 yards receiving.  Not impossible, but not probable IMO.

Diomedes

All reasonable points.  But I'm living in a fantasy land right now where the result of everyone getting the ball means a drastic increase in overall team production that could see a WR with 900+ yards.  When Stallworth stretches the field, LJ gets the ball.  Then the D worries more about LJ and Stallworth gets the ball.  Then Westbrook gets the ball.  Everyone wins in this best of all possible worlds I'm living in right now.
