Hey, Rome, you better damn well hope he gets double teamed.  That's his farging job, to clear out the underside for Westbrook and LJ.  If he can't blow past the CB, and get a S attention, he's useless.

Hopefully, he catches a bunch early, they start to account for him, and the other stuff opens up for Westbrook and LJ.  That will force defenses to play everyone honest, which is good for everyone.  He doesn't need to catch 9 TDs and 1000 yards to accomplish this.  He just has to attract a safety.
Anyone but Reid.

Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Regardless how it pans out, I'm sure the Texans are reworking their thinking a bit.  The 9-guys-in-the-box plan is no longer the starting point for defending the Eagles.  Stallworth WILL attract attention, if not double teams right away, and that was NOT going to happen without a reciever of his caliber.

How is predicting 950 yards for Stallworth being a homer?

the prediction isnt homerish its the person saying it...i happen to think he will get 1000 yards this year...for some reason tho when you say it its like the boy who cried wolf...you can tell me youre not saying it because youre a homer but i dont believe it

Why am I a homer and you're not?  Oh, that's right.  I know why.  You're a "real" fan, cos you down & shtein, right, Ott?

F'ing fraud.

He's an elite player?

He's got elite talent, G_F.  He's big, he's fast as hell and he's got the opportunity to become a star with the Eagles because of Donovan and the talent surrounding him on the Eagles.

Diomedes

Jesus Christ, Stallworth isn't elite.  It's ludicrous to even discuss the idea.

He's a #2 receiver. A pretty good one. Elite is 1400 yards, teams gameplanning specifically for you, and the team selling your jersey for more than one year.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Donte Stallworth eliteness will be overshadowed by Hank Baskett's eliteness.

I believe he has the talent - speed, size, hands, work ethic and quarterback - to be exactly that with the Eagles.

Why is it so unreasonable on my part to expect excellent things from him?  I went from saying that 950 yards is perfectly attainable to suggesting that he's an elite player (meaning talentwise) who could be an excellent, front-line #1 receiver for the Eagles.

I'm merely suggesting a possible progression that could take place based on his talent.

I could predict mediocrity for him like seemingly everyone else is if you like.  Would that be better?

Rome your not way off on the yardage prediction or your assessment. The Saints were gross last year with everything that went on, with an unhealthy Horn to RB--passing their asses off finishing games. They were forced to pass the ball because they were always down come 4th Q.

Stallworth played very well last year with Horn (who was out the majority of games) on and off the field, and with WR's D Henderson, Hilton and Hakim. He did it against good defenses down the stretch (NE--76yds, 2TD's--Carloina--102 yds/TD) as well. Brooks was spreading the ball around alot to his receivers if you go back to the box scores and look at his attempts.

So, if the point is the EAGLES spread the ball around too and have unspectacular receivers, there is no reason to think he cant achieve those numbers. We have no idea how these LB's are going to shake out, so we might be looking at the Birds down points come the 4th, and McNabb passing more than usual findig a consistenly open Stallworth who has been successful as a #1. Hes no Chad Johnson but:

he will be doing alot more as the season progresses than just going the Pinkston vertical...bet on it

MadMarchHare

Rome, you're missing the point.  He's going to be a #2, whether you like it or not.
His job is to run really really fast, and draw the safety out, so Westbrook can abuse LBs.

Im not trying to shtein on your parade because that would be pretty gross, but he isnt very big and one of his knocks is inconsistent hands.

no hes not

this is a large oversimplification of his skills...hes not pinky whos going to basically run go routes to lengthen the field....in fact stallworth is more of an underneath mid range pattern runner as opposed to a deep route runner that is gonna pull safties with him...id compare him to santana moss...a guy that can and will go deep but a guy that comes out of his cuts exceptionally quick and creates speration that way as opposed to merely outrunning people...imo he is best utilized on crossing routes and higher % throws as opposed to super deep routes

i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick
