I just finished season 4. It makes BB look like leave it to beaver
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The Wire was some great tv, but it had it's own unbelieveable moments. Like the area in the city were drug laws weren't enforced, and the last season when McNulty fabricated a serial killer.

It still was some of the best tv I've ever watched.

the legal drugs angle was actually based on a real incident...of course the show exaggerated it a little bit for television

the serial killer storyline was brutal...i try and pretend it never happened

season 5 tho more than any other season highlites just how great the wire was....its easily its worst season and is still better than any other tv shows best season ever...except maybe sopranos

I'd rank season 3 of Breaking Bad over season 5 of the Wire. Wouldn't rank any full season of the Sopranos ahead of the Wire but there were certain aspects of the show I'd rate higher.

Almost done with season 1 of Homeland. It's a decent show, not great. It has its moments. Claire Danes who I was never a fan of is really good. The rest of the cast is pretty mediocre. The wife who also played the head Alien in the awful remake of V is smoking.

imo sopranos season 1 and 2...maybe even 3 (i dont fully recall 3 right now) were the best seasons of any tv show ever not named the wire and the only show id consider at any point of its run to be better than s5 wire

bb is an average show with some great moments....the wire and sopranos were great shows

BB requires a decent amount of suspension of disbelief and its scope is too limited to ever compare favorably to The Wire which always felt real (besides Omar's superman moment jumping out of a building...rather have him capped by a kid than have another scene like that where he magically survives).  But in terms of entertainment value, BB is hard to beat.

I rank shows based on what I want to see if a new episode is coming on.  BB is higher than Mad Men for me on that list.  Game of Thrones is up there as well, but I'm an admitted GoT fanboy.

MDS

sopranos season 1, maybe 2, are probably better than anything BB can ever do but on the whole BB blows sopranos out of the water.

over 50% of sopranos episodes were pretty terrible. for the life of me i cannot stomach watching another god damn tony soprano dream sequence. oh your teeth feel out. you are losing power. big farging deal you obese guido.

The one thing I hated on the Sopranos was when Tony was eating. It was friggen' disgusting. He breathed like a bull elephant and smacked his lips like a horse.

He ate like that becasue he was dealing with aggression. That's part of his character.

Just started watching Homeland. Pretty good so far.

I just finished the first season of that the other night. I liked it, but didn't love it. I think it would have been better as a miniseries or a one-season arc. The way they set up the second season felt sort of force-fit to me. I walked away thinking that it was pretty good, but it started out better than that.

I was under the impression it was just one season [12 episodes]. At least that's what my room mate told me. When he starts praying to Allah in the second episode was freakin creepy.

It's supposed to come back in September for Season 2. Personally, I think they could have had a kick ass season 1 instead of a pretty good season 1 if they weren't worried about coming back for Season 2.

Finished the finale last night and I agree with all of this. The shock therapy at the end was really dumb.

I wondered about that. I'd never heard anything about it one way or the other. Maybe I should have watched the DVD with the comments? Anyway, it was one hell of a good acting job.

SD

I caught up with the show over the internet and HBO ondemand so I never saw the comments. I've just been around a lot of angry people who take their aggression out on food.

At CF tailgates, I'm sure.

I watched the first 4 episodes of "Breaking Bad" last night.

Yay.
