It's amazing and depressing to me how many great memories I have about the Simpsons and how I couldn't possibly be bothered to watch them now.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

That is the truth. I'm assuming they are still on Sunday nights? (not counting re-runs during the week).

But if you do not think the Simpsons are funny, you should questions your sense of humor...and your sexuality.

Ive never sat down and watched a full episode of the Simpsons. I just can't hysterically laugh at cartoon animations.

The writing and wit is there, but the human emotion behind it to make it laughable is not there for me.

yeah i dont get the cartoon thing....simpsons and married with children which both came out around the same time began the dumbing down of america thru pop culture which has resulted in what we have now which is the countrys next generation of kids being comprised mostly of munsons

you have a small complex with presenting opinions as if they're facts.  i personally couldn't give two shteins about the simpsons, but it doesn't mean the show blows.  there's genre stuff i don't like but when enough other people hold it in high esteem i usually chalk it up to it just not being my type of music/show etc.  you tend to believe that only your opinion is valid.

the simpsons was and maybe still is one of the smartest comedies on tv. i haven't seen it in years either but i guarantee most people that watch it don't understand half of the references in it. i mean the shows writers usually come straight from some type of Harvard Lampoon pedigree.

thats what was great about the show, homer burping would make all the ignorant bumpkin folk laugh, then two seconds later theres a very obscure historical/political/smart people reference that would get the nerds laughing.

granted i don't know if it's still any good but for most of the 90s the simpsons were on point, and pretty much as far off from the dumbing down of america as you can get. except that whole bart simpson shirt phenomenon, that was pretty gay.

It started that way, but four to seven years in those references dropped off for Homer's wacky adventures and celebrity cameos.

South Park FTW

But with them it's the opposite. I wish they'd go back to making some of the more silly episodes that aren't so pop-culture, historically, or politically motivated. Those episodes were better when they were the highlights of the season, not the entire season, IMO. Seems like they try too hard sometimes to have a "message".

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

this is one of your most closed minded and ignorant posts ever

congrats.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

It's hard to believe that the Simpsons began when I was in high school.  Watched it in college and maybe a year or two beyond, then just gradually lost interest.  Don't think I've seen a single episode in at least 10, maybe 15 years.

One of my favorite scenes was in one of the Treehouse of Horrors when Homer was on trial with Ned Flanders playing the Devil and the Broad Street Bully-era Flyers were the jury.
