as a comic nerd there is some decent shows out there.

my opinions on comedy are well documentaed but broad city and schumer can be really funny....schumers 12 angry men take last week was off the charts brilliant and funny
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

Broad City is good.

Best show on TV is Nathan For You but I admit that's because it's perfect for what I like in comedy.  I love that show.

Farrell is going to be Farrell.  The interesting casting was always VV.  His career is in a tailspin.  I feel like he really needs this to be good.

Seabiscuit36

Totally agree with EL on The Americans.  It's one of those shows that is always on the cusps of being a great show, but somehow you just don't get that HOLY shtein moment enough.  I guess because its a spy show that's just how it is, lots of drama, but if they fail the show ends.  Paige the daughter is in my top 3 all time most annoying characters on a tvshow.  Right up there with Carl from TWD and Kim Brown on The Unit.

Was a fan of the tv show in the 80's, never saw the movie, little surprised you have. It's your fault for watching it.

i never saw the tv show.....ill watch almost any movie on cable....his performance was indescribably bad...you have to watch it....in a  sadomasochistic way

i get that a ton of people like it....but its a nerd show and will never really expand past that. maybe ill be proven wrong but i dont see it as a show that will be talked about 10, 15 years down the line like the wire and the sopranos are. heck, people are still talking BB and that wasnt even that deep.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

i agree....its more like an xfiles (which i liked a lot most of the time)....it will be worshipped by nerds who it caters too but it will never be put in any sort of pantheon of greatest dramas ever

I agree on Game of Thrones. I'm a casual watcher. I like it enough to watch it regularly, but I'm not overly riveted or engrossed by the story. I mean, I know the characters by sight, but I probably couldn't name half of them. They have enough boob shots to keep me interested, though that's been lighter this year. But after it's done, it'll be out of my mind for sure.

I love the show but I can't follow the Legendz/Munson/holic/QB conversations half the time. Last page they were talking about Roose...I had to look him up to know they were talking about Bolton. I thought his name was Bruce.

Rome

I started watching a show called, "The Wire" the other day.

Anyone else heard of it?

Eagles_Legendz

I have no idea what GoT's legacy will be, especially with 3 seasons or so left to go (though nerd show probably is limiting its real audience since it passed Sopranoes last year in terms of HBO's biggest viewership #s [and I will obviously admit to being a complete GoT geek]).  My only point was that it's probably the one show remaining with near universal critical praise + large audience.

One point where I would tend to agree is I don't think it's ever been considered the best show on TV while it was on (between BB/Mad Men etc).  Always included on top 10 lists, been nominated for best drama each year, but it's never reached a point where it's been considered THE best.  Also, it's genre is inherently limiting for some people.

Munson

I've seen and heard Mad Men's quality questioned during certain stretches, so I don't think its a far cry to put GOT on par with, or even ahead of, Mad Men. I had never seen or heard those same critiques levied at Breaking Bad when it was on.

GOT is a cultural phenomenon though and will certainly still be talked about 10-15 years later if its last few seasons are of equal or superior quality to its first few.

I've heard decent things about Turn but still need to watch. Still need to watch House of Cards too.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Eagles_Legendz

I liked Mad Men more than BB for most of its run.  I think it's been sort of hit or miss the last "season" (counting both halves).

Different sort of shows.  Mad Men aspired to (and sometimes reached) a higher level with where it was aiming.  BB and GoT both go for and deliver entertainment.  I think that separates them.
