9.8 million viewers for the Jon & Kate season premiere on Monday.  Is that a non-sports cable record?

My wife watched that. Train wreck TV. We Tood Did.

Oh, and good call on Band of Brothers. I'm on the 6th installment-- great show.

MDS

it might be an original programming record.

great dexter news:
Lithgow will play Walter Simmons, an unassuming, mild-mannered suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America's most prolific and deadliest serial killers.  Dubbed the "Trinity Killer" because of his proclivity to kill in three's, he relocates to Miami after being tracked by F.B.I. Special Agent Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine).  Brought on to assist in the investigation of Miami's latest serial killer, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) becomes fascinated with "Trinity's" unique killing methods and his ability to evade capture for almost three decades.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Calling Steinbergowitz out for claiming to be superior to anybody when he's not =/= "defending" anybody.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Rome

I can't wait for the episode when Jon & Kate and their mongoloid offspring die in a plane wreck.

I didn't even know what the hell Jon & Kate was until about 6 months ago. My girlfriend watched some of the marathon over the weekend and it angered me. I read an article about them in Philadelphia Magazine and I can't believe people watch that trash. My girl watched the show the other night...I made fun the whole time.

It looks like 8 mini Gocongs running around.

its not saying much considering how bad tv is but jon and kate isnt even in the top 20 worst shows on television...its actually pretty respectable as far as reality shows go

Jon & Kate might be the most irritating thing ever put on TV. I'm not even a child-hater and I want to murder that entire family. Only people with vaginas could possibly enjoy that show.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

its brutal but its one billion times better than something like keeping up with the kardasians dancing with the stars or the bachelor

people will throw extra hate on it now because of the over the top media coverage but its really just a middle of the pack tv show these days

I've never seen a full episode of any of those shows, but if they are actually worse than Jon & Kate my mind is blown.

One show i did like but have rarely watched is that Expedition Alaska.  Its survivor without the gimmicky shtein, and they give them a gun and say go kill your dinner.  I like the premise, but always seem to turn on the same episode where the meathead cop from NJ is falling apart from not eating enough

its not close

take the current nauseating media attention out of the equation and jon and kate is just another harmless "reality" show....its basically the female version of deadliest catch in that its solidly made not over the top and as respectable as these kinds of shows can get (at least it was when i saw it a couple years ago)....dont get me wrong i think j&k and dealiest catch are both disgraces and a waste of air time but theres a monster gap btwn those and any reality show on E as well as most of the ones on network tv (that ive seen)

What makes Deadliest Catch a disgrace? It's a little repetitive after awhile, but as far as reality TV goes, it's not bad at all. Certainly not in the Jon and Kate category in the slightest.
