I'm sure he will make some spaghetti and meatballs and interact with his friends in organized crime. Damn guidos.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Mastroiani (sp?) of the US just got a red card.  Announcers are calling it a make-up call.

The US is getting ass raped by calls today.

Yep.  Pope got a red card for a late tackle.  US now down a man.

US goal called back on an offside call.

Are these refs from Italy or something? Clean up one Aisle 4, the Euro-trash is out.

Wow. What a horseshtein game. Lucky to get away with a tie. Very unlucky to not have been playing the entire second half with a man advantage. Shady reffing from an apparently notoriously shady ref.

That was a crazy game.

1. That ref should be shown the red card after that strange performance. I don't mean just the red cards; there were questionable offsides calls and mysterious non-calls throughout the game as well.

2. The US team should be proud of hanging on to draw the heavily favored Italian team with 9 men for a half. It's really an embarrassment for Italian soccer.

3. Hopefully Italy will respond to the embarrassment by pummeling the Czechs and springing the US into Round 2 (vs. Brazil?  :-\ ) with a win over Ghana.

Man, isn't that the truth. One of Ghana's main goal scoring threats has to sit out the game on Thursday so that helps. And Italy should be the better of the teams in their final game so the US certainly still has hope.

Italy 4
Check 3
Ghana 3
US 1

Italy wins, US Wins, US advances. A Check/Italy tie and it comes down to goal differntial.

Soccer may be more European/Latin American than American, but apparently sucking refs are worldwide.

Offsides sucks.  It's hard enough to score goals.  Let 'em run wherever they want...

If the Czechs and Italy tie (not affecting the goal differential of either of those teams), we'd have to give Ghana a thrashing of 4-0 or better to make it in that way. Seeing as how our offense hasn't yet scored a goal this World Cup, that seems extremely unlikely. Our second-best way in is for the Czechs to beat Italy badly, ruining Italy's point differential advantage over us.

rjs246

All of this is assuming, of course, that the US even beats Ghana. And that is definitely not a safe assumption. Ghana looked pretty damned good today.

I agree. From Ghana's perspective, they have their easiest match ahead and a win puts them in Round 2. The game could be a bloodbath.
