QuotePer Rotoworld:

The Brewers and free agent Jeff Suppan have agreed to a four-year, $42 million contract, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Agent Scott Leventhal confirmed the deal, which includes an option for a fifth year. "The city was right, the team was right and the deal was right," he said. "It worked for 'Soup' and (wife) Dana on all three levels." Since he made the right choice to stay in the NL, Suppan figures to remain a solid pitcher. Still, there's little chance of him justifying this kind of salary. His peripherals seem to get a little weaker every year, and he finished last year with a 1.45 WHIP

MDS

Over $10 mil a year of farging Jeff Suppan? What the hell is the matter with this world.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The Rangers' offer to Zito was rejected and he's expected to sign with the Giants....

Dillen

Zito signed a 7 year, $126M deal.

Dumbasses. Atleast they'll have him for his dinosaur years too.  :-D

MDS

Lieber to the Mets? Lastings Milledge and Aaron Heilmann.

But.... I thought Zito was going to sign with the Mets for a discount!?!?!?

I'm confused.

Rome

$18M per year (for seven years) for a guy who plays (at most) 35 games per year.

Awesome.

:yay

PhillyPhreak54

I think they expected too much of a discount.

DH

No one expected him to get the deal he did...For that money, I'm glad the Mets didnt get him.

If SF would not have got involved, he would have signed with NY, and for less than he would have in Texas.

But I guess its all moot now. farg.

Wrong.  Obviously, no less than two people expected him to get that -- the Giants GM and Scott Boras.

Wrong.  You wanted him, and you don't pay the bills.

Wrong.  You're assuming that it was a 2-team race until the Giants stepped in.  Wrong wrong wrong.
