Without going back through the thead to see... did anyone else see that Junior Griffey switched the pink bat he used all game long to his black one in his last at-bat?

The funny thing is, he ripped the shtein out of that pitch and the only reason it didn't go for extra bases is because Howard was protecting the line.

Again, nice win today.  I'll take about 70 more of them just like that.

MDS

A lot of guys were switching back to the normal bats after they didn't hit with the pink ones. Either way, it didn't seem to work. Geoff Geary owns.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

If i missed this, i'm sorry...but does anyone know why they have Abreu sitting two days in a row now?  Did he get hurt?  Traded?

Nevermind...i hear now that it's back spasms.  Lame excuse.

Shut it.

Lieber had the flu and he almost threw a perfecto.

Howard had the flu/food posioning and spent Saturday Night in the Emergency Room and then goes yard twice.

He also made a nice stab to end the game.

However he had his butchers cleaver out when they should've had that 9-4-3 DP to end the 8th. He's got to get better defensively.

Alex Gonzalez needs to get gone. Goodbye, Alex. Now beat it. Hopefully Gillick notices his incompetance and outright releases him and brings in any other RH utility player available.

Even Randy Ready or Kevin Sefcik would be better options.

The starting pitching and who has caught them since the beginning of this great stretch...

April 30 @ PIT - Floyd: 6.2 IP 1 ER 6 H 5 BB 3 K (Fasano)
May 1 @ FLA - Madson: 5.1 IP 5 ER 8 H 3 BB 5 K (Lieberthal)
May 2 @ FLA - Leiber: 6 IP 4 ER 9 H 0 BB 5 K (Fasano)
May 3 vs. ATL - Myers: 7 IP 2 ER 5 H 2 BB 5 K (Lieberthal)
May 4 vs. ATL - Lidle: 6 IP 2 ER 5 H 3 BB 5 K (Lieberthal 1st-6th; Fasano 7th-9th)
May 5 vs. SF - Floyd: 6 IP 3 ER 9 H 3 BB 2 K (Fasano)
May 6 vs. SF - Madson: 6 IP 1 ER 8 H 4 BB 2 K (Ruiz)
May 7 vs. SF - Leiber: 7 IP 4 ER 6 H 2 BB 3 K (Fasano)
May 9 vs. NYM - Myers: 8 IP 2 ER 5 H 0 BB 6 K (Ruiz)
May 10 vs. NYM - Lidle: 2 IP 5 ER 7 H 1 BB 0 K (Ruiz)
May 11 vs. NYM - Floyd: 5 IP 0 ER 2 H 4 BB 2 K (Fasano)
May 12 @ CIN - Hamels: 5 IP 0 ER 1 H 5 BB 7 K (Ruiz)
May 13 @ CIN - Leiber: 8.2 IP 0 ER 2 H 0 BB 6 K (Fasano)
May 14 @ CIN - Myers: 7 IP 1 ER 6 H 2 BB 5K (Ruiz)

Lieberthal has caught Madson, Myers and Lidle before going on the DL. What have those guys done with Mike behind the plate?

18.1 innings 9 ER 18 H 8 BB 15 K

Lieberthal's catchers ERA is: 4.42

Fasano has caught Floyd three times and Lieber three times. What have those guys done with Sal catching them?

39.1 innings 12 ER 34 H 14 BB 21 K

Fasano's catchers ERA is: 2.74

Ruiz was called up after Lieby went on the DL. In his short time here he has caught Madson once, Myers twice, Lidle once and Hamels' ML debut. What have they done with the rookie catching?

28 innings 9 ER 27 H 12 BB 20 K

Ruiz's catchers ERA is: 2.89

Now, I realize that this is a small sample size. And when I get time I will do the entire season for Lieby and Fasano. But it is interesting to see how the catchers are handling the pitchers during this streak.

Also, another FYI...

Howard is on pace to smash 52 HR's.

Phreak,

That is skewed just by the fact that Lieberthal had to catch Madsen for 1/3 of his innings.  I know Ruiz did as well, but that was the game that Madsen somehow pulled a Houdini and escaped with a single run when he allowed around a million baserunners.  Every out seemed to be a line drive right at somebody.

From the "I'm going to sue for non-support file":

Brett Myers currently has a 2.73 ERA.  His record?  2-1

Ryan Madsen has a 7.18 ERA.  His record?  4-1.

Myers must be leading the league in no decisions.  He's been stellar, though.

better put an asterisk next to the White Sox team last year, for they won the World Series but also had some cheap wins in there.  And while your at it, add an asterisk to the Red Sox the year before, and the Marlins before that, and the Angels before that.....

Couldn't have said it any better MURP, i totally agree.
