i love how someone woke up one day and decided that sal fasano is some master at handling pitchers...how does anyone know this...the guys barely played in his whole career...the only reason phils fans say this is because leiberthal is bad at it therefore fasano must be great at it...no phillie fan had ever heard of sal fasano until the day they signed him...now they are sure hes much better at handling pitchers than lieberthal...

frankly the whole handling of pitchers thing is half a joke anyway...its so overrated and only applies to maybe 5% of the pitchers in the league...either a pitcher is good or he isnt...it has very little to do with how many times a game a catcher goes to mound and caresses the pitchers scrotum and tells him everything will be alright

its another part of the seamhead conspiracy where they try to make people believe baseball is much deeper than it really is....the 'emerald chessboard' and all that garbage

I'm convinced if Lieby didn't have that big contract, people would recognize that he is a decent catcher.  Can't blame him for Ed Wade being a moron.

i agree but a catcher isnt going to help you with that...you either mature and become good or you dont...no different than any other sport...all that garbage this spring about gillick coddling floyd was a joke...hes just as awful as he was last year...baseball is notorious for making ish up like that to make itself seem intellectually superior than all other sports...

I'm convinced if Lieby didn't have that big contract, people would recognize that he is a decent catcher.  Can't blame him for Ed Wade being a moron.

leiberthal had a terrible first half of the year last year, but batted over .300 in the latter half.

the only thing that leiberthal can't do as well as he was once able to is throw a runner stealing 2nd out.

and lieberthal is so bad at handling pitchers...yeah...he called the shutout in colorado.

if leiberthal can not handle pitchers, how is it that he has a better CERA (Catcher Earned Run Average) by about 1 full run, when the "ace" of the staff prefers fasano?

the season is 2 weeks old.  why don't you wait a bit.  but hey, stats tell the whole story.

no one says lieberthal is an all star...however, anyone who watches the games can easily see that fasano sucks, and lieberthal is clearly the better of the two options at catcher.
