no need to panic....it's only april...there's still 160 games left

::)

Sure, it's a long season but the Phils got off to a crappy start last year and missed the playoffs by 1 game.  Games in April count just as much as September.

i think this will be about as close to 1st place in the NL east they'll sniff this year.

Technically, opening day would be the closest they come to 1st place.

Just sayin'

oh cuz 1+1= 2 losses.  but, if the nationals win, which now they might thanks to wonderful wagner, and the braves and marlins lose, they would still only be 1 back.

nothing like 2 games to really rid me of those opening day optimisims.

Here's a stat for you doodes to chew on...

The Phillies are a staggering 0-13 with runners in scoring position after two games.

Zero for thirteen.

World Series, here we come!

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Wagner blew the save in New York tonight  :)

Yeah I saw that too, But Gordon blew it for us, the Bastich

LBIggle

but since wagner at one time played for the phils, they are automatically at fault in some way.

Yes, we get a 1/2 loss added to us evertime Wags blows one for the mets

Yeah, Brett Myers is a bum who had the gall (HOW DARE HIM) to question the umpire who couldn't find his dick tonight. Unless it was down the pipe it was a ball.

That's weird, because Mark Mulder didn't walk anyone.  Strange.

No, but he wasn't getting calls. And the Phils helped him out big time by not working him. In the 7th when Bell hit the HR Burrell and Utley both swung at the 1st pitches. Two pitches = two outs.

And Isringhausen walked people in the 9th too.

I love Myers' arm and his intensity, but he lets himself be distracted when things don't go his way.  IGY is right in that maturity is an issue with Myers, but I am more optimistic that he can turn it around- even this season.  Today wasn't his best, and he still left with the Phils having a chance to win.

I agree with Phreak about the umpire squeezing the strikezone (especially the outside calls).  I noticed it mostly with Gordon in the 9th.  The ump wasn't unfair (the calls went both ways), but his zone was a little tight.

Lame-armed Mike Lieberthal needs to be taken to the vet and put down.  My son can throw better than that.

Future HOFer Jimmy Rollins was gold on both offense and defense this game.
